Marsellus describes pride as "a slight sting"; he wants to make sure that Butch's pride doesn't interfere with the dive. By the time of the fight, Butch's pride has gotten to such a point that he does not lose the fight; he kills the other boxer.

His name's Paul (played by Paul Calderon), and this is "just between y'all", as Paul is so fond of saying. He's also known as "English Bob", as revealed in the end diner scene between Vincent and Jules.

The lines are, "I ain't your friend, palooka" and "I think you heard me just fine, punchy". This scene also deals with pride in its own way, especially in Butch's reaction to these insults.

Sixteen piercings, and all of them done with a needle--ouch. Jody is talking to Trudy about her piercings, and Vincent is somewhat eavesdropping while waiting for Lance, his drug dealer and Jody's husband. Later, Jody will bear witness to the ultimate piercing--Mia's force-fed injection of adrenaline.

The Choco is a very potent mixture of heroin; the Choco is also extremely pure. Lance is out of balloons, so he's got to give Vincent the stuff in a baggie. That will come back to haunt the two later.

Lance believes that messing with a man's car should be an offense punishable by death.
The DVD trivia track indicates, as the movie implies, that Butch Coolidge was the man who keyed Vincent's car as a way of repaying the insults of "punchy" and "palooka".

Several times in this segment, we see Mia snorting cocaine. Drug addiction makes for a very unattractive lifestyle, as Mia will learn the hard way by the end of the film.

Vincent later comments that the 50's style restaurant is "like a wax museum with a pulse." The diner is home to waiters, waitresses, and hosts dolled up as 50's icons: Zorro, Buddy Holly, Marilyn Monroe, Mamie van Doren, and Ed Sullivan, among others.

Answer: Mia - Durwood Kirby burger

The Durwood Kirby burger was a reference to the Garry Moore sidekick of the same name. The Martin & Lewis $5 milkshake was a clever way of saying vanilla, as Martin & Lewis were a white comedy team (Amos & Andy, slang for chocolate, were a black comedy team.)

Answer: he's not much of a waiter

It was Buscemi's suggestion that Vincent & Mia not tip their waiter. Fans of "Reservoir Dogs" can never forget Mr. Pink (played by Buscemi) and his refusal to tip waitresses because of society's rules.

Answer: Sommerset O'Neal - sex

Some fans have speculated as to the connection between Fox Force Five and the Deadly Vipers Assassination Squad from "Kill Bill". There are subtle differences. Two males exist in the DiVAS; one of them, David Carradine as Bill, is the leader. And in "Kill Bill", Vivica Fox (mirroring the Black Fox) is the deadliest woman in the world with a knife; in FF5, that honor went to Raven McCoy, played by Mia.

Answer: Vincent Vega

Mia tells Vincent he's more than welcome to use her straw, since she doesn't have cooties. Vincent replies, "Yeah, but maybe I do." "Cooties I can handle," Mia deadpans.

"They talk a lot, don't they?" Mia asks. It's never really said who "they" are. The audience assumes it's Jules, seeing as how he's the one who told Vincent about Tony Rocky Horror. However, one has to ask who told Jules...

Answer: her hand

Mia tells Vincent that she never got a foot massage from Tony Rocky Horror. She says that Tony only touched her hand - at her wedding. She then chastises Vincent for believing such excessive gossip.

"It seemed excessive, but that doesn't mean it didn't happen."
