Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Besides Michael Biehn and Lance Henriksen, which actor appears in both "The Terminator" and "Aliens"?

Answer: Bill Paxton

He plays one of the punks in "The Terminator" and Hudson in "Aliens". While he dies in "Aliens", his death is not confirmed in "The Terminator", as he's merely pushed aside by the cyborg.
2. Which man behind the dinosaurs of "Jurassic Park" designed the creatures and effects for both movies?

Answer: Stan Winston

Winston won Oscars for Visual Effects on "Jurassic Park" and "Aliens". He won two Oscars, Makeup and Visual Effects, for "Terminator 2". He also worked on "Predator", "Edward Scissorhands", "Interview with the Vampire", and "Batman Returns". Before this, he worked on the infamous "Star Wars Holiday Special". Everyone has to start somewhere...
3. There's a company in each movie, and their names sound oddly alike. What are they called?

Answer: Cyberdyne and Hyperdyne

Cyberdyne creates Skynet and cyborgs in the "Terminator" movies. Hyperdyne in "Aliens" produces synthetic humans.
4. There's a mention in each movie of which fictional weapon?

Answer: Phased plasma rifle

The Terminator asks for one in the gun shop. Being 1984, they don't exist and he doesn't get one. Then in "Aliens", Hudson mentions that they have these guns when talking about how his squad will protect Ripley. The Marines and the humans of the future have some similar armor, headsets, and guns as well.
5. Michael Biehn plays Kyle Reese in "The Terminator" and Hicks in "Aliens". His characters have similar weapons. What are they?

Answer: Pump shotguns

In "The Terminator", he steals one from a police car to protect Sarah. In "Aliens", during the scene where everyone gives up their magazines, he says he keeps a shotgun around for "close encounters". Could this be a nod to Mr. Spielberg's film?
6. Where do both of Michael Biehn's characters get bitten?

Answer: Right hand

Sarah bites Reese in "The Terminator" when she thinks he's crazy and means her harm. In "Aliens", Newt bites Hicks when they first meet. Biehn's character is also bitten on the hand in a third James Cameron film from the 1980s: "The Abyss". Film can be a strange business, huh?
7. Something similar happens to both of Michael Biehn's characters during the endings of the two films. What happens to Reese and Hicks?

Answer: They're wounded, and women help them along.

After Hicks is wounded by acid, Ripley helps him get to the ship in "Aliens". He survives. In "The Terminator", Sarah helps Reese get away from the cyborg after he's shot. Unfortunately, he dies later.
8. A robot ends up as an upper body that keeps moving in both films.

Answer: True

Bishop in "Aliens" rescues Newt, even after being ripped in half by the Alien Queen, and in "The Terminator" Reese's bomb blows the cyborg into pieces. The torso still goes after Sarah. According to the "Terminator" DVD, Lance Henriksen (who plays Bishop) was going to play the Terminator before Cameron cast Arnold Schwarzenegger. If Henriksen had played the Terminator, then his character would have ended up as a torso in both movies.
9. The title villains (the Terminator and the Alien Queen) are dispatched by whom?

Answer: The female protagonist

Ripley (Sigourney Weaver) kills the Alien Queen on the "Sulaco" in space (after she thinks they've left it on the planet). Sarah (Linda Hamilton) finally "terminates" the Terminator at the factory after Reese dies. Both climaxes partially take place in an area full of metal and smoke, and fire is involved.
10. Both characters who destroy the villains at the end ultimately do so with the help of what?

Answer: Machinery

Sarah crushes the Terminator in a hydraulic press; Ripley dumps the Alien Queen into the airlock with a load lifter and pushes her out into space. While fire and shooting will kill an alien, it will barely slow down a cyborg from the future, so Sarah has to crush it.
