When I hear "We Are Family" (by Sister Sledge) I picture Judy (Goldie Hawn) dancing, and then Pvt. Moe doing the bump with Sgt. Ross before they're interrupted by Capt. Lewis. Capt. Lewis is upset with the women, especially Judy, because even though Judy and the others managed to win the war games for their team, Capt. Lewis looked bad in front of Col. Thornbush. Eileen Brennan, Mary Kay Place and Robert Webber also starred in "Private Benjamin", which earned Goldie Hawn and Eileen Brennan Oscar nominations for Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress, respectively.

Answer: The guys in line at the unemployment office

In probably the funniest scene in the movie, the guys are in line at the unemployment office when the song "Hot Stuff" comes on the radio. Gaz smiles as he looks over to see all the other guys subtly doing their routine to the music, while standing in line.

The song, a number one US hit for Donna Summer in 1979, is also used in two other scenes: at the Chippendale show near the beginning, and at the first practice we see the guys have. The dress rehearsal is performed to "Rock and Roll Part 2" by Gary Glitter, "We Are Family" by Sister Sledge plays during the scene when Guy is using Linda's sunbed, and "Je t'aime...moi non plus", by Serge Gainsbourg and Jane Birkin, is one of the songs which plays while Gaz, Gerald, Lomper and Dave are holding auditions.

George (Joel Murray) tries to make himself heard, but the guy has headphones on and can't hear him. George isn't doing too badly until the guy eats a can of chili with beans, resulting in paramedics being called in to revive George. "Do it Again" and "Wouldn't it be Nice" by the Beach Boys are also played during this sequence. John Cusack, Demi Moore and Curtis Armstrong starred in "One Crazy Summer" (1986).

Other songs on the soundtrack include "What Does it Take" by Honeymoon Suite, "Would I Lie to You" by Eurythmics, and "Born to be Wild" by Steppenwolf.

Answer: One, Two, Three

In "One, Two, Three", the song is played over the opening credits, when Mac and Ingeborg are talking to the Russians at the Grand Hotel Potemkin (Ingeborg is dancing on the table to the song), while the Russians are chasing Mac's car to the border, and again when Mac and the others are rushing to the airport to meet the Hazeltines near the end. "Sabre Dance" is from the final act of Khachaturian's ballet, "Gayane", and is used frequently in TV shows or movies during scenes with a fast pace.

While in Topeka, the Stillwater band members argue about the band's new t-shirts, which highlight Russell and show the other band members in shadow. Needing to get away, Russell goes with William to a local party and gets wasted on acid. The next morning when Russell and William are picked up by the tour bus, "Tiny Dancer" begins playing over the speakers.

While everyone is lost in their own thoughts of what happened the night before, Larry begins singing with the song. Eventually everyone joins in, bringing them all together again. Billy Crudup, Patrick Fugit and Kate Hudson starred in "Almost Famous", which won a Grammy award for Best Compilation Soundtrack Album for a Motion Picture. "Tiny Dancer" is from Elton John's 1971 album "Madman Across the Water".

The song didn't have much success when it was first released (only reaching number forty-one on the US charts) but exposure in "My Girl 2", as well as the memorable scene in "Almost Famous", have helped make it more popular.

Tired of basic training anyway, John, Russell and the other guys decide to go out on the town after their drill sergeant, Sgt. Hulka, is injured during a rope-climbing exercise. They go to a nearby bar, and before too long, John convinces Ox to mud wrestle some ladies.

Their fun is cut short when MPs raid the bar and bring them back to base (John and Russell have their own private MP escort). "Stripes" (1981) starred Bill Murray, Harold Ramis, John Candy and Judge Reinhold. In 1976, "The Rubberband Man" was a number two US hit for the Spinners.

As it turns out, Joe (Craig Sheffer) had been as taken with Lisa when he saw her in the woods as she had been with him. They get together at the dance and their mutual attraction grows. Joe and Lisa meet on a few occasions, but after Joe is caught outside of the camp, they decide to run away together. "Bit by Bit" was composed by Harold Faltermeyer, and is the theme song to "Fletch" (1985).

With college on his mind, Joel (Tom Cruise) is reluctant to misbehave while his parents are gone, but his friends convince him to take advantage of the situation by calling a prostitute. Joel gets in some trouble with the woman, but ultimately learns to live a little and take chances. "Old Time Rock and Roll", by Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band, only reached number twenty-eight on the US charts in 1979, but will be remembered for its use in Tom Cruise's memorable dance scene in "Risky Business" (1983).

Connie plays the song "Handy Man" to try and cheer up her friend Jill, but is so caught up in enjoying the song that she doesn't notice when Jill leaves. She also plays the song at the end of the movie when she asks her sister to dance with her. "Smooth Talk", based on the short story "Where Are You Going, Where Have You Been?" by Joyce Carol Oates, also starred Treat Williams, Mary Kay Place and Levon Helm. "Handy Man", from James Taylor's album "JT", reached number four on the US charts in 1977, and earned Taylor a Grammy award for Best Pop Vocal Performance, Male.

Mitch is working in the lab by himself when Chris comes by. He agrees to try a test with Mitch, but instead of the laser firing into the target, the laser beams lead them to the auditorium, where a Tanning Invitational is going on. Chris leads the guys in and tells them the girls are student beauticians from a nearby beauty school. Mitch eventually starts having fun when Jordan arrives, but gets in trouble with Dr. Hathaway for goofing off. Don Henley's "All She Wants to Do is Dance" plays when they go in to the auditorium and discuss the girls. Later, when Jordan arrives, "One Night Love Affair" by Bryan Adams plays. "Real Genius" (1985) starred Val Kilmer, Gabriel Jarret and Michelle Meyrink.
