Billboard number 16, Sept 5, 1960. A doo-wop group from good old Brooklyn, they made frequent appearances at New Jersey's now defunct Palisades Park, as well as TV appearances on American Bandstand and The Clay Cole Show. "Cousin Brucie" (disc-jockey Bruce Morrow) gave them plenty of airplay on the old WABC radio in New York and this led to "Over The Rainbow" being a hit.

They were never able to duplicate their success.
2. In 1961, this group hit the charts with "Please Love Me Forever".

Billboard number 12, April 24, 1961. Searched high and low, and couldn't find any facts concerning this group. They really were a flash in the pan.

Answer: Barbara Lynn

Billboard number 8, Aug 11, 1962. Born in Beaumont Texas in 1942, Lynn hit Top 40 for the only time with this song. She later toured tour with the likes of Gladys Knight, Stevie Wonder, Jackie Wilson, The Temptations, and Ike and Tina Turner, just to name a few.

Billbaord number 10, July 27, 1963. Born in the Bronx, New York, she was discovered while working as an usherette at the world famous Apollo Theater, by James Brown. In addition to recording "Just One Look" she also co-wrote it. Sadly, Doris passed away due to emphysema in 2004.

Billbaord number 8, July 9, 1966. This group was a garage band formed in San Jose, California. They won a Battle Of The Bands contest in the San Jose area, beating over 100 bands including The Golliwogs, among others. This song was their only hit though. Who were the Gooliwogs you ask? Well, they later changed their name to "Creedence Clearwater Revival" and had some pretty good success.

Billboard number 16, May 20, 1967. This group was from Sydney, Australia, and are widely regarded as the greatest Australian pop band of the 60's. They were the first Australian rock and roll band to have an international pop hit with this song. This was their only American Top 40 hit, although they had 7 Top 10 hits in Australia during 1965 and 1966.

Billbaord number two, June 1, 1968. Born in New York City way back in 1925, Montenegro was a prolific songwriter who wrote music for many TV shows and movies. Among his credits are 2 volumes of music from the TV show "The Man From Uncle", songs from 2 of the "Matt Helm" movies(starring Dean Martin), as well as music from "I Dream Of Jeannie","Here Come The Brides", and "The Outcasts". Montenegro died of emphysema in 1981.
