Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Adam's Apple

Answer: Aerosmith

Back when Cain was able
Way before the stable
Lightning shot right out from the sky
A mothership with fate said let's give it a try
Conscience was related
Man, he was created
Lady luck took him by surprise
Her sweet and bitter fruit
It surely opened his eyes

This was just one of the big hits on Aerosmith's "Toys in the Attic" album, which they released in 1975. Steven Perry helped arrange most of the album and wrote most of the songs.
2. Blueberry Hill

Answer: Fats Domino

I found my thrill on Blueberry Hill
On Blueberry Hill when I found you
The moon stood still on Blueberry Hill
And lingered until my dreams came true
The wind in the willow played
Love's sweet melody

"Blueberry Hill" was first recorded in 1940 by both Gene Autry and Glenn Miller. In 1949, Fats Domino brought up the song during a recording session when he had run out of other songs to sing. It ended up being Domino's biggest hit and can still be heard on oldies stations all over the U.S.
3. Lemon Tree

Answer: Peter, Paul, & Mary

When I was just a lad of ten, my father said to me,
"Come here and take a lesson from the lovely lemon tree."
"Don't put your faith in love, my boy", my father said to me,
"I fear you'll find that love is like the lovely lemon tree."
Lemon tree very pretty and the lemon flower is sweet
But the fruit of the poor lemon is impossible to eat.

This wonderful song by Peter, Paul, and Mary is a song about love that has been lost. It tries to tell the listener that what something looks like on the outside may be very different than what is found inside.
4. I've Got A Lovely Bunch Of Coconuts

Answer: Danny Kaye

Down at an English fair, one evening I was there
When I heard a showman shouting underneath the flair
I've got a lovely bunch of coconuts
There they are, all standing in a row
Big ones, small ones, some as big as your head
Give them a twist a flick of the wrist
That's what the showman said

First written in 1944,"I've Got A Lovely Bunch Of Coconuts" was recorded by numerous folks including Danny Kaye. The song appeared in Judy Garland's last film "I Could Go On Singing" in 1963.
5. "Strawberry Fields Forever"

Answer: The Beatles

Let me take you down
'Cause I going to Strawberry Fields
Nothing is real and nothing to get hung about
Strawberry Fields forever

Written by John Lennon and Paul McCartney in 1967, this was one of John Lennon's favorite hits that he wrote. It is mostly about a memory from childhood when he played in the garden of Strawberry Field. This location, was part of a Salvation Army Children's home in Liverpool.
6. "Tangerine"

Answer: Led Zeppelin

Funnel down straight through the clouds
Like an ever flowing stream
Like an ever flowing steam
Take a bite of the fruit of life
Cause the fruit of life is sweet
Cause the fruit of life is sweet
You're my tangerine

According to Jimmy Page, this song was dedicated to Jackie DeShannon who was his girlfriend when he wrote the song. This is the last Led Zeppelin song Page wrote without any input from Robert Plant.
7. "Raspberry Beret"

Answer: Prince

I was working part time in a five-and-dime
My boss was Mr. Mcgee
He told me several times that he didn't like my kind
'Cause I was a bit 2 leisurely

This was just one of Prince's many big hits. What was meant by the lyrics is a matter of debate. Is this song about a female who has mental problems? We will probably never know.
8. Banana Boat

Answer: Harry Belafonte

Day-o, day-o
Daylight come and me wan' go home
Day, me say day, me say day, me say day
Me say day, me say day-o
Daylight come and me wan' go home

Banana Boat Song is a traditional Jamaican folk song. The best known version was released in 1956 by Harry Belafonte. Belafonte was often referred to as the "King of Calypso" and is often credited with popularizing the Caribbean musical style.
9. Tutti Frutti

Answer: Little Richard

I got a gal, named Sue, she knows just what to do
I got a gal, named Sue, she knows just what to do
She rock to the East, she rock to the West
She is the gal that I love best
Tutti frutti, oh rutti
Tutti frutti, oh rutti, ooh

"Tutti Frutti" was written and recorded by singer/songwriter Little Richard. Recorded in 1955 it became Little Richards first major hit and is often credited with helping to form the sound of rock and roll. The sound of this song was so powerful that both Elvis Presley and The Beatles recorded the song.
10. Apple, Peaches, Pumpkin Pie

Answer: Jay and the Techniques

Ready or not here I come
Gee that used to be such fun
Apples peaches pumpkin pie
Who's not ready? Holler "I"
That's a game we used to play.
Hide and seek was its name.
Oh ready or not, hear I come,
Gee that used to be such fun.

The 1967 hit song "Apple, Peaches, Pumpkin Pie" was probably the greatest hit for this 1960's pop group. Written by Maurice Irby, this song was a love song with the singer vowing to marry the woman he would follow forever.
