Makoto Shinkai made "Hoshi no Koe" with his bare hands -- all the scripting, 3D programming, coloring, rendering, animating, and sound effects, all on his tiny little Macintosh computer loaded with expensive software.

He did the voices by himself with his wife. "Hoshi no Koe" took years to make, and he was named MVN of the year (most valuable newcomer). Animation companies are nuts over hiring this guy.

Slow, sweet, and easy to play on the piano. The lyrics of this song had a lot of meaning packed into them. Although I've never learned Japanese, this song was very soothing for "Full Metal Panic". Fansubbers were so mad because FMP was licensed, (thus making their fansub encodes illegal), that they belayed that risk because it was one of the first few times a new anime playing in Japan was already agreed upon overseas for dubbing.

Yes, it only had one. People dispute the fact that "Escaflowne" was made before "Evangelion", when "Evangelion" was made in 1995, and "Escaflowne" was made in 1996. Staff members claim that pre-production for "Escaflowne" existed since 1992. Anyways, fans in general say that "Escaflowne" was an excellent follow-up to "Evangelion", being the ultimate fantasy story in its genre. Most people never miss this incredible classic, surpassing all fantasy genre animes before and after.

Can you believe it??? I sure didn't. But do listen to it closely. Yes, I understand that many voice actors did their remixes, but as for the official one, Utada Hikaru actually sang it. Again, SEL is a must-see for the older groups.

"Hack Sign's" staff already is promoting its magnitude of success, as it continues in Japan for the rest of the year 2002.

"Chobits" Ladies and Gentlemen, CLAMP has done it again. That animation studio never gets away with making bad stuff. From "Magic Knights Rayearth", to "Card Captor Sakura", "X", "Angelic Layer", and now "Chobits", CLAMP has always done a good job with making the most of a manga into an anime. "Chobits" is being drooled over by many fans as it unfolds on TV.

"Dragonball GT" was a decent sequel to the end of "Dragonball Z". The problem exists in whether Akira Toriyama sanctioned its continuation, as he died somewhere at the time "Dragonball GT" was in full swing. DBGT ended in 1997, and so it brings closure to the legacy of Toriyama-san, who may be regarded highly for a long time for his creations throughout the 90s.

"Kimi ni Nosete" was sung by Azumi Inoue, a once-popular singer in her own right. Miyazaki always had his own affinity in making a touching movie that would last for ages. Most of his other prominent works include "Totoro", "Kiki's Delivery Service", "Porco Rosso", "Mononoke Hime", and his first one in 1986, "Nausicaa". For anime fans that grew up watching them, they may never forget the picture Miyazaki painted into their lives.

"Star Ocean EX" was poorly done in relation to what was being released at the same time in 2000. Enix overstressed CG animation, and all characters and backgrounds were left static and unlively compared to Miyazaki. The protagonist, Claude, is a typical adventurer cut out from classic epics, joined with a band of other RPG characters and a very cute female partner.

The anime was set for two seasons, but they cut production to focus on creating the new RPG, "Blue Sphere".

"Hemisphere" was Maaya Sakamoto's new hit single for "Rahxephon". The anime so far is incredible. It has almost the same maturity as "Cowboy Bebop", and borrows from various Egyptian aspects, names, and designs. The robots, however, are near photocopies of Evangelions, with more features.
