Smokey Dawson was born in 1913, and died in 2008. He served in the Second World War in the Army, and on his return from service, started his own radio show, "The Adventures of Smoky Dawson". He became known as Australia's first cowboy, and he and his horse Flash were famous all over Australia.

I was lucky enough to attend his concert in the small country town of Moora, which was twice devastated by floods in 1999. His sister Tania is also a well known country singer.
