1. Black Dog (1971)

Answer: Led Zeppelin

"Black Dog" was released as a single in 1971 from the Led Zeppelin album "Led Zeppelin IV". The song reached position fifteen on the US Billboard chart, but its best charting position was fifth place on the Danish singles chart. It featured in first place in Q magazine's "The 20 Greatest Guitar Tracks" list in 2007 and reached 300th position in Rolling Stones magazine's"The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time" list in 2010.
2. Black No.1 (Little Miss Scare-All) (1993)

Answer: Type O Negative

Type O Negative released "Black No.1 (Little Miss Scare-All)" in 1993 from their album "Bloody Kisses". It only reached seventeenth place on the German charts, unlike the other single from the album "Christian Woman" which reached first place on the same chart. The album itself was Type O Negative's first album to be certified platinum.
3. Blackbird (1968)

Answer: The Beatles

"Blackbird" is credited to The Beatles and recorded on their album "The Beatles", often referred to as the "White Album". Paul McCartney wrote and recorded the song as a solo effort. "Blackbird" has been covered numerous times by a variety of artists from Crosby, Stills & Nash to Dave Grohl and Bobby McFerrin. Even Justin Hayward of the Moody Blues covered the song for his 1994 solo album "Classic Blue".
4. Lady in Black (1971)

Answer: Uriah Heep

"Lady in Black" was released in 1971 by Uriah Heep from their album "Salisbury". The song was released as a single in Germany in 1977 and went straight to the top of the charts and remained in first position for thirteen weeks. This was to be their best charting position in any country.

The song was written by Ken Hensley and he covered his own song on his 2004 solo effort "The Wizard's Diary".
5. Black (1991)

Pearl Jam recorded "Black" for their 1991 album "Ten". The song reached third position on the US Billboard Mainstream Rock Tracks chart in 1992 and twentieth place on the US Modern Rock Tracks chart. The album did very well for the band, peaking at number two on the US Top Heatseekers Albums (Billboard) chart as well as another second place spot on the US Billboard 200 chart. Rolling Stone magazine reported it as the number one album on the "10 Greatest Debut Albums (Readers' Poll)" list in 2013.
6. Long Cool Woman in a Black Dress (1972)

Answer: The Hollies

The Hollies recorded "Long Cool Woman in a Black Dress" in 1972 for their "Distant Light" album. It went to number two on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart in 1972 and peaked at number one on the U.S. Cash Box Top 100. The song also did well in Canada and Australia, reaching first and second place respectively.
7. Black Betty (1977)

Answer: Ram Jam

Although Ram Jam recorded the umpteenth cover version of this song in 1977, it remains one of the more popular versions. One of the first recordings of the song was in 1933, performed by a Texas state prison farm inmate called James Barker. Huddie "Lead Belly" Ledbetter recorded a version in 1939. Odetta recorded her version in 1964. Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds did a version in 1986, Tom Jones in 2002 and Meat Loaf in 2006. Ram Jam managed an eighteenth place on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart and position fourteen on the U.S. Cash Box Top 100 chart.
8. Fade To Black (1984)

Answer: Metallica

"Fade to Black" is from Metallica's second album "Ride the Lightning" released in 1984. The album achieved ninth place on the Finnish charts, but only managed forty-eighth place on the US Billboard 200 chart and eighty-seventh on the UK charts. The worst chart position was in France, where the album only achieved 126th place. "Ride the Lightning" was certified platinum in Australia, Canada and the US and managed a gold certification in the UK.
9. Back in Black (1980)

Answer: AC/DC

"Back in Black" was released in 1980 from the eponymous album. It was the first album to feature new lead singer Brian Johnson after the death of former lead singer Bon Scott earlier that year. The song is a tribute to Scott. It reached thirty-seventh place on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart and reached number one on the UK charts 31 years after its initial release in 2012 on the UK Rock & Metal (Official Charts Company) chart.
10. Black Limousine (1981)

Answer: The Rolling Stones

The Rolling Stones recorded "Black Limousine" for their 1981 album "Tattoo You". The song was considered for their 1978 album "Some Girls", then again for the 1980 album "Emotional Rescue", but was shelved again until recording started for "Tattoo You".

The album was widely successful, reaching top spot on the Canadian, Australian, Dutch, French, New Zealand and US Billboard 200 charts. The only country that did not have the album in either first, second or third spot was Japan where the album still peaked at a respectable eight place.
