Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Who played piano on "Get Back" from the "Let It Be" album?

Answer: Billy Preston

This was the first time the Beatles credited or recognized an artist's contribution to their work. Billy was also present during the recording sessions that were to be the 'movie'. (Information from www.curly.demon.co.uk/beatles/late.htm#let) To keep things live they had to get the renowned keyboardist Billy Preston in. Billy also help to keep things friendly as the group were now at their most uncooperative.
2. Who was John Lennon's second wife?

Answer: Yoko Ono

She has always been said to be one of the defining reasons the Beatles broke up. She became an ever-constant presence especially during the recording of the White Album. John's marriage to Yoko Ono (seen as strange to say the least by many people) caused troubles.
3. Who plays lead guitar on "While My Guitar Gently Weeps"?

Answer: Eric Clapton

(Information from www.curly.demon.co.uk/beatles/late.htm) "While My Guitar Gently Weeps", featuring Eric Clapton, a close friend of George's, on lead guitar.
4. After this song became popular, street signs turned up missing. What is the song?

Answer: Penny Lane

(Information from www.myusm.com/usm345602.html) After the song "Penny Lane" became a hit, Penny Lane streets signs kept getting stolen. To put an end to this, people eventually just painted the street name Penny Lane on the buildings.
5. He was the inspiration for "Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds".

Answer: Julian Lennon

(Information from www.curly.demon.co.uk/beatles/late.htm#pepper) "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds" which was banned from the BBC because they thought that it was encouraging people to take drugs (abbreviated it is LSD) although John always maintained that it was inspired by a painting by his son Julian (Julian is supposed to have pointed to the picture and said, 'Look daddy it's Lucy in the sky with diamonds').
6. This is the last album the Beatles ever recorded as a complete four-some.

Answer: Abbey Road

(Information taken from www.curly.demon.co.uk/beatles/late.htm) "Abbey Road" (1969) was the last ever Beatles recording (until the 'new songs' on the Anthology Albums) and it was an excellent way to go out. All of the songs are very easy going although they were mostly individual songs.
7. Paul plays lead guitar on this song of George's.

Answer: Taxman

(Information from http://www.curly.demon.co.uk/beatles/early.htm) "Revolver" (1966) followed on in the same vein as "Rubber Soul". Songs included "Yellow Submarine" with Ringo on vocals, "Taxman" a song of George's featuring Paul on lead guitar.
8. This Beatle owned a psychedelic Rolls Royce.

Answer: John Lennon

This car holds the record for the highest price paid for a Beatle item. It sold for 2.3 million dollars in 1985.
9. These two Beatles were left handed, one of them just musically left-handed.

Answer: Paul & Ringo

Interesting how equal that worked out two right handers and two lefties. Here's another interesting tid-bit: While touring, John usually roomed with George, and Paul roomed with Ringo. Funny to think that each pair was the same handed-ness.
10. What was one of the earlier names the Beatles went by?

Answer: The Silver Beatles

Here are a few random but interesting facts I found on www.myusm.com/usm345602.html, The average length of a Beatle concert during their first American tour was 28 minutes. In 1962, before The Beatles made it big, the Liverpool "Mersyside Newspaper", held a contest to see who was the biggest band in Liverpool. The Beatles won because they they called in posing as different people, voting for themselves.
