Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Slade did this song first, then it was covered by Quiet Riot.

Answer: Cum On Feel The Noise

As you may or may not know, Quiet Riot tried to capture lightning in a bottle twice by doing another Slade cover, "Mama Weer All Crazee Now".
2. This all time classic by Jefferson Airplane was updated and rocked out by Waysted.

Answer: Somebody To Love

The guitar gymnastics of Ronnie Kayfield and the gritty vocals of Fin shined on this incredible version of a true rock classic.
3. How about a three-fer? Rough Cutt and Sammy Hagar both put their spin on this rock classic by Janis Joplin.

Answer: Piece Of My Heart

"Black Widow" was a song from Rough Cutt's first album and "I Can't Drive 55" was pure Sammy Hagar...although Janis probably didn't care for driving 55 either!
4. Southern rock meets L.A. Metal. Armored Saint put their stamp on this classic Lynyrd Skynyrd tune.

Answer: Saturday Night Special

Armored Saint, for my money, was the best band to come out of L.A. during the 80's metal renaissance.
5. 80s shock rockers WASP loved to do covers. Can you tell me which classic song by The Who that Blackie and the boys remade for their album "The Headless Children"?

Answer: The Real Me

WASP did do a cover of The Rolling Stones' "Paint it Black". It appeared on the import version of their self-titled debut album.
6. Time to get a little more obscure. Little known 80s artists Shark Island did a killer remake of which Fleetwood Mac song?

Answer: The Chain

"The Chain" was one of the highlights of Shark Island's only major label release, "The Law of the Order".
7. Skid Row released an entire EP of covers entitled "B-Sides Ourselves". Which song on that album was originally done by Kiss?

Answer: C'mon And Love Me

"B-Sides Ourselves" was actually released in 1992. The song "Delivering The Goods" by Judas Priest was covered on the EP as well. It was recorded live and featured Priest lead singer/metal God Rob Halford sharing the vocals with Sebastian Bach.
8. Which classic song by Badfinger was covered by Savatage in the 80's?

Answer: Day After Day

"Day After Day" was included on the Savatage album "Fight For The Rock" from 1986.
9. Hair bands weren't the only ones doing covers in the 80s. Arizona based thrashers Flotsam and Jetsam delivered an over the top rendition of which Elton John gem on their 1988 major label debut "No Place For Disgrace"?

Answer: Saturday Night's Alright For Fighting

Long known as "Jason Newsted's old Band", Flotsam and Jetsam have remained active for over 20 years.
10. Which song by Kiss was covered by Anthrax on their collection of B-Sides?

Answer: Parasite

"Attack of the Killer B's", released in 1991, also included some live Anthrax cuts, a couple of cuts from S.O.D. (a side project featuring Anthrax members Scott Ian and Charlie Benante), and the ground-breaking collaboration with rappers Public Enemy, "Bring The Noise".
