1. "Dancing in the Moonlight"

Answer: Toploader

Toploader were formed in Eastbourne, Sussex, in 1997, and had regular chart success in the late 1990s/early 2000s. "Dancing in the Moonlight" peaked at number seven in the UK in 2000. Irish rock band Thin Lizzy had a hit in 1977 with an almost identically titled song, "Dancin' in the Moonlight".
2. "You Should be Dancing"

Answer: Bee Gees

"You Should be Dancing" was huge disco-era hit for The Bee Gees in 1976, making number five in the UK and topping the US Billboard chart. It featured prominently in the movie "Saturday Night Fever".
3. "You Make Me Feel Like Dancing"

Answer: Leo Sayer

Sussex-born Leo Sayer was one of the biggest-selling artists in the UK in the 1970s. "You Make Me Feel Like Dancing" reached number two in his home country in 1976, and did even better in the USA, going all the way to number one.
4. "Dancing Queen"

Answer: ABBA

ABBA burst on to the music scene in 1974 when they won the Eurovision Song Contest for Sweden with the song "Waterloo". They would have no fewer than nine UK number one singles, including "Dancing Queen", which was to be their only US chart-topper.

The Scissor Sisters were formed in New York in 2000. "I Don't Feel Like Dancin'" was a worldwide hit in 2006, reaching number one in numerous countries, including the UK. Strangely enough, one country where it didn't do so well was their home country, the USA, where it only made number 72 on the Billboard chart.
6. "Dancing With Tears in My Eyes"

Ultravox were formed in London in 1974, but didn't have much success until Scotsman Midge Ure joined as lead vocalist in 1979. "Dancing With Tears in My Eyes" was released in 1984, making number three on the UK chart.
7. "Simon Smith and His Amazing Dancing Bear"

Answer: Alan Price

Alan Price, from County Durham, originally found fame as the keyboardist with The Animals. He went solo in 1965, and had a number four UK hit in 1967 with "Simon Smith and His Amazing Dancing Bear". This song was written by Randy Newman, with the word "the" in the title instead of "his".
8. "Dancing on the Ceiling"

Answer: Lionel Richie

Lionel Richie was a member of The Commodores during the 1970s, but went on to even greater success as a solo artist from 1982 onwards. "Dancing on the Ceiling" was a huge hit album in 1986, with the title track reaching number seven in the UK and number two in the USA.

Bruce Springsteen was already one on the biggest names in world music before the release of "Born in the USA" in 1984. The album made number one in numerous countries, and spawned no fewer than seven singles. One of these was "Dancing in the Dark", which made number four in the UK and number two in the USA.

Paul Nicholas, from Peterborough, England, is best known as a stage and TV actor, but he did have a short singing career in the late 1970s. His biggest hit was "Dancing With the Captain", which made number eight in the UK in 1976.
