Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. This song off the album "Asylum" is about the Holocaust and those who deny it ever happened. Name this song.

Answer: Never Again

David Draiman, Disturbed's lead singer, is of Jewish ancestry, although he does not practice the religion. He has said in interviews that he is deeply disturbed by displays of anti-Semitism. He has said he takes issue with musicians who collect Nazi memorabilia.

The song is about the Holocaust and Holocaust deniers, like Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, former President of Iran. A lyric from the song is "You dare to tell me that there never was a Holocaust, you think that history will leave the memory lost." It is not one of the album's three singles.
2. This is one of Disturbed's most well-known songs, and contains an "abuse" segment. Complete the title: Down with the _____.

Answer: Sickness

The song is the second single from Disturbed's debut album, "The Sickness". It is often the last song Disturbed plays in a concert. In 2006, the song peaked at number two on Billboard's Hot Ringtones chart.

The "abuse" segment refers to a heavily profane part of the latter part of the song. Draiman struggles with his "mother" and finally hits her back. The song is about how the "mother", society, wants everyone to conform and not be themselves.
3. On the album "Indestructible", Disturbed wanted listeners to give in to _____?

Answer: The Night

The song is titled "The Night" and was the fourth single released from the album. The album was almost named after it, as Draiman really liked the song.

The music video takes place in a garage and features a dark entity swirling around the band. The night is supposed to be a real living thing.
4. Which of these is NOT true about Disturbed's album "Believe?"

Answer: It features songs such as "Asylum," "The Infection", and "Serpentine"

The songs "Asylum", "The Infection", and "Serpentine" all appear on the album "Asylum".

Every song title is only word, and this is the only "Disturbed" album where that is the case. The song "Liberate" does use foul language 17 times, and was the reason the album got the Parental Advisory: Explicit Content label from the Recording Industry Association of America.

"Believe" was Disturbed's first number one debut on the Billboard 200 chart. It was Disturbed's second studio album. Disturbed's first one, "The Sickness," peaked at number 29 on the chart. Notable songs besides "Liberate" on the album include "Remember" and "Prayer."
5. Which of these songs on the album "Ten Thousand Fists" was a cover of a Genesis song?

Answer: Land of Confusion

The song was originally released on Genesis' 1986 album "Invisible Touch." In an interview with Howie Magner, David Draiman stated in an interview that the objective of the cover was "taking a song that's absolutely nothing like us and making it our own."

The song was the fourth single from the album. It peaked at number one on the US Mainstream Rock Tracks chart.
6. You can play the song "Stricken" from the album "Ten Thousands Fists" on a guitar in what video game?

Answer: Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock

There is not a "Disturbed: Rock Band", and the first "Guitar Hero" game does not have any Disturbed songs on it. On "Guitar Hero III", however, "Stricken" is featured on the upper tiers, meaning it is one of the harder songs in the game.

The music video was filmed in an abandoned hospital where some of the original "Nightmare on Elm Street" movie was filmed. Mike Wengren, Disturbed's drummer, joked about expecting Freddy (the main villain in the movie) to jump out at him in an interview.

The song is about meeting someone new and becoming "stricken" with them. A lyric reads "that I am stricken and can't let you go, when the heart is cold there's no hope."
7. Which of these best describes the subject matter of the song "Another Way to Die"?

Answer: Global warming

Lyrics that make the subject matter clear include: "Consequences we cannot deny will be revealed in time. Glaciers melt as we pollute the sky, a sign of devastation coming." The song peaked at number one on the U.S. Billboard Hot Mainstream Rock Tracks and U.S. Billboard Rock Songs charts.

No band members are present in the music video. Instead, the video features classic images associated with climate change, such as oil rigs, factories, and people pumping gas into their cars.
8. After a hiatus, Disturbed announced the release of what new studio album in June 2015, their first in five years?

Answer: Immortalized

During the hiatus, band members worked on side projects. This included David Draiman's industrial metal band Device with Geno Lenardo, the former guitarist for the band Filter. They released one self-titled album before Draiman got back with Disturbed.

The lead single for the album is called "The Vengeful One".
9. According to Disturbed on the song "Innocence" from the "Asylum" album, who is innocent?

Answer: No one

The song begins with the lines: "Who is innocent, no one is innocent." The song concerns lawyers who lie to defend criminals accused of heinous crimes. This is made clear in the lyrics: "The killer walks again, freed by evil men, and their dark charade, this can't be happening." Draiman goes on to say "you owe the world an apology."

The song was never released as a single.
10. Complete the lyrics to the first chorus of the song "Prayer." "Living just isn't hard enough, burn me alive, inside. Living my life's not hard enough, ______."

Answer: take everything away

The song is about a conversation between Draiman and God. Draiman suffers through a lot, and wants God to take it all away. The music video features quite a bit of disaster imagery, and features the other members of the band (not Draiman) being killed, but eventually coming back to life. The video is supposed to inspire hope that one can get through rough parts of life. There was a lot of controversy surrounding the music video; the 9/11 attacks occurred the year before it was released, and many people thought the video was offensive and emulated the attacks.

The song is the first single from the album "Believe".
