Answer: Turkey

It was held in Istanbul. Eurovision 2003 was Turkey's first win in 48 contests, and saw Sertab Erener's song 'Every Way That I Can' beat off stiff competition from Urban Trad, Belgium's entry, who sang 'Sanomi'.
2. Ukraine won Eurovision 2004 with 280 points, beating their nearest competition, Serbia and Montenegro, by 27 points. What was the name of the Ukrainian entry, and who sang it?

Answer: 'Wild Dances', by Ruslana Lyzhicko

Ukraine received the maximum twelve points from eight countries. Those eight were Estonia, Israel, Iceland, Lithuania, Latvia, Poland, Russia, and Turkey. Only one country didn't give Ukraine any points, and that was Switzerland.
3. Many countries had to go through a semi-final process to determine which would feature in the Eurovision Song Contest 2004. Which of these countries did NOT have to participate in the semi-finals?

Answer: Romania

In the semi-finals, Switzerland failed to receive any points, and were therefore omitted from the final. Other countries that failed to reach the final were Finland, Denmark, Lithuania, and Andorra.
