Rawls had a worldwide hit with the song in 1976. He followed it up with another R & B standard, 'Lady Love'.

The gruff voice of Isaac Hayes (1942-2008), is probably best known for the 1972 theme from the movie 'Shaft' and also playing Chef in 'South Park'. Barry White had a string of easy listening songs in the 1970s and Mel Torme, known as the Velvet Fog, was a crooner, drummer, actor, songwriter (he wrote 'Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire') and the author of several books. He died in 1999.
