Rawls had a worldwide hit with the song in 1976. He followed it up with another R & B standard, 'Lady Love'.

The gruff voice of Isaac Hayes (1942-2008), is probably best known for the 1972 theme from the movie 'Shaft' and also playing Chef in 'South Park'. Barry White had a string of easy listening songs in the 1970s and Mel Torme, known as the Velvet Fog, was a crooner, drummer, actor, songwriter (he wrote 'Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire') and the author of several books. He died in 1999.

Green was discovered by country music legend, Willie Nelson, and was soon touring around the southern states of the US. He released his first album, 'Three Days', in 2001. 'Cannonball' was his fourth album.
