Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. "Bad" - 1987

Answer: Michael Jackson

Michael Jackson's long-awaited follow-up to "Thriller" only sold half that "Thriller", but it contained memorable number 1 hits such as the title track, "Man in the Mirror", "Leave Me Alone", and "The Way You Make Me Feel".
2. "Rise and Fall" - 1982

Answer: Madness

This British ska band had their smash, "Our House", on the "Rise and Fall" album.
3. "Dare to Be Stupid" - 1985

Answer: Weird Al Yankovic

The fact that Weird Al's career has outlasted most of the people he parodied is simply mind-boggling. This album had classics such as "Like a Surgeon", "Yoda", and "Girls Just Wanna Have Lunch."
4. "Remain in Light" - 1980

Answer: Talking Heads

Simply a great album from a great new wave band. "Remain in Light" includes the classic "Once in a Lifetime" and contains the niftiest cover art around.
5. "So" - 1986

Answer: Peter Gabriel

"So" was Peter Gabriel's most commercially successful effort. The dancable rhythm of "Sledgehammer" and the romance of "In Your Eyes" made this album popular.
6. "True Blue" - 1986

Answer: Madonna

Oh yes, you obviously CAN'T have an 80's-based music without Ms. Ciccone herself. This album is the home to "Papa Don't Preach" and "Open Your Heart".
7. "Crimes of Passion" - 1980

Answer: Pat Benatar

This album included "Hit Me with Your Best Shot" and "You Better Run", the video for which was the second video ever played on MTV.
8. "Raising Hell" - 1986

Answer: Run DMC

This landmark rap album from Rev. Run, D.M.C., and the late Jam Master Jay included "It's Tricky" and the cover of Aerosmith's "Walk This Way".
9. "Freedom of Choice" - 1980

Answer: Devo

Remember those flowerpots?? Devo burst into the mainstream with this album and its hit, "Whip It". Whip it good.
10. "Appetite for Destruction" - 1987

Answer: Guns N' Roses

When these guys were together, Axl, Slash, Izzy, and Duff were simply explosive and on top of the world. However, does anybody remember their solo projects (and that includes Axl's singing with the "new" GNR)? Didn't think so.
11. "Storm Front" - 1989

Answer: Billy Joel

Though not as good as Billy's earlier work, "Storm Front" does include rock's most memorable history lesson, "We Didn't Start the Fire".
12. "Stella" - 1985

Answer: Yello

Yello? Who are they? This synth-pop group's name may not be recognizable to many, but the tunes they put out became cult hits, especially "Oh Yeah", which was featured in the movie "Ferris Bueller's Day Off". Bueller? Bueller?
13. "Freedom" - 1989

Answer: Neil Young

After experimenting with rockabilly and synth-rock for a decade, Young returned to form with "Freedom". "Rockin in the Free World" is featured on this album. George Michael released a song in 1990 titled "Freedom 90".
14. "Girl You Know It's True" - 1989

Answer: Milli Vanilli

Yes, yes, Rob and Fab didn't really SING on this album. But considering this album sold millions of copies and won two Grammys (which of course were revoked), it's a shame that whoever did SING on this album didn't become pop stars of their own. And Rob, may you rest in peace.
15. "In the Dark" - 1987

Answer: Grateful Dead

The multitude of Deadheads multiplied greatly due to the release of this album, which featured the top 10 smash "Touch of Grey".
