Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. 'Flying, Singing.'

Answer: 'Volare'

'Volare whoa-whoa! Cantare whoa-whoa!' translated from Italian into English, without the 'whoa-whoas' is 'Flying, Singing'
2. 'I look up when I walk, so the tears won't fall. Remembering those happy Spring days, but now I am alone.'

Answer: 'Sukiyaki'

'Sukiyaki' by Kyu Sakamoto actually reached number one on the US charts in 1963 (the only song in Japanese that ever made the Top Ten in the US). The US title has nothing to do with the song itself.
3. 'I am a captain, I am a captain.'

Answer: 'La Bamba'

'Soy Capitan, Soy Capitan.'
4. 'Very well together, Very well together.'

Answer: 'Michelle'

I thought about 'Sont les mots qui vont, tres bien ensemble,' but that would be 'these are words that go very well together' which is too identifiable from the English words. 'Tres bien ensemble, tres bein ensemble' does appear in the song and is not repeated in the English part.
5. 'Like a promise, it's you, it's you,'

Answer: 'Eres Tu'

The original Spanish lyrics do not match a later English version, but did get some airplay.
6. 'At a time when Johnny Lackland, in England was the king,'

Answer: 'Dominique'

'Dominique' by Belgian nun Soeur Sourire was a hit in the early 1960's
7. 'Listen, here's how it goes,'

Answer: 'Oye Como Va'

'Oye Como Va' was performed by Santana in 1971,
8. 'When I am alone, I dream of the horizon.'

Answer: 'Con Te Partiro'

Andrea Bochelli got a lot of airplay with this in 1999.
9. 'Thank you, Good Bye, Thank you.' (end of song)

Answer: 'Danke Schoen'

10. 'Do you want to sleep with me tonight?'

Answer: 'Lady Marmalade'

The above phrase is a translation of the refrain 'Voulez vous coucher avec moi, ce soir.'
