"Whiskey Lullaby" was recorded by Brad Paisley, featuring Alison Krauss, for his album "Mud on the Tires"(2003). It was later released as a single, and made it as high as number three on Billboard's Hot Country Songs chart. It also won a CMA (Country Music Association) award for Song of the Year, in 2005. Jon Randall, who co-wrote the song with Bill Anderson, also recorded the song for his own album "Walking Among the Living"(2005).

Chris Carrabba is a singer and songwriter who performs with his band Dashboard Confessional. "The Sharp Hint of New Tears" was included on the Dashboard Confessional album "The Swiss Army Romance"(2000). The Ataris, an American rock band who've been playing together since 1995, recorded "Pretty Pathetic" for a Smoking Popes tribute album ("Smoking Popes Tribute"[200]). The original version was recorded for the Smoking Popes' album "Destination Failure"(1997). The Ataris' cover stripped the song down, leaving it slow and piano- and lyric-based, rather than more upbeat like the original.

Eric Clapton wrote the song "Tears in Heaven" with Will Jennings, after the death of Clapton's son in 1991. Conor Clapton died after falling from a window on the 53th floor of an apartment building. The song was a big success for Clapton, having reached number two on the Hot 100 chart, and number one on the Adult Contemporary chart.

It also won three Grammys in 1992: Male Pop Vocal Performance, Song of the Year and Record of the Year. In 2004, Clapton 'retired' from performing "Tears in Heaven", and was cited as saying that he has doesn't feel the loss as strongly anymore, and doesn't want the feelings to come back.
