The music director of the film, Anu Malik, is infamous for his 'inspired' tunes.

Roy Orbison recorded this song in 1964. "Kal Ho Na Ho" was the first film to license the rights of a song. This may be because the producer Karan Johar was sued for using Geri Halliwell's 'It's Raining Men' without permission in an earlier film. However, this is a rare case and usually songs are just copied without giving any credit to the original composer or singer.
