Not only did "High School Confidential" contain "Boppin' at the High School Hop" and "Shakin' at the High School Hop" it also had "Boppin' at the High School Hop" and "Rollin' at the High School Hop" in the lyrics.
Jerry Lee Lewis and Ron Hargrave wrote the the song which was used in a film of the same name starring Jerry Lee Lewis, Russ Tamblyn and Mamie Van Doren.
Sam Phillips produced the recording that was made while Jerry Lee Lewis was still recording for Sun Records.
Jerry's 1961 version of "Save the Last Dance for Me" failed to chart in the US. "Hi Heel Sneakers" was included on his "The Greatest Live Show on Earth" in 1964. "Whole Lotta Shakin' Goin' On" made it to Number Two in the US in 1957 and topped the UK charts.

Freddy earned the nickname Freddy "Boom Boom" Cannon because of the power of his recordings and gained national exposure through his many appearances on Dick Clarke's "American Bandstand" show.
"Dream Lover" was a 1959 hit for Bobby Darin. Fabian released "Turn Me Loose" the same year. "Sea Cruise" was Frankie Ford's 1959 hit.

Session guitar player Hank Garland played the distinctive opening to "Jingle Bell Rock". Helms recorded several versions of the song whenever he changed labels.
He recorded the song again when he was on the Kapp label in 1965 and when he switched to the Little Darlin' label two years later. In 1970 he released an album titled "Jingle Bell Rock" on the Certron label. In 1983 Helms recorded his final version for the Black Rose record company.
Helms' only other US Top Ten was another 1957 release titled "My Special Angel".
"Blue Christmas" was originally recorded by Ernest Tubb in 1949, eight years before Elvis had success with the song. "It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas" was recorded by Perry Como in 1951. "Little Saint Nick" was a 1963 Christmas release by The Beach Boys.

The Dovells went by the name of The Brooktones until they signed with Chancellor Records in 1960. A group from Bristol, Pennsylvania, called Terry and the Appeljacks had released "The Bristol Stomp" after watching a group of kids dancing The Stomp at dances in their home town. Their version failed to chart in the US, but when The Dovells released a version as their debut single on Chancellor it sold over a million copies.
Len Barry later left the group and recorded hits including "1,2,3".
The Dartells had an instrumental hit with "Hot Pastrami" in 1962. The Del-Vikings formed in 1955 in Pittsburgh. The Duprees had a hit single in 1962 with a cover of "You Belong to Me".

The following year "Dream Lover" made it to Number Two and Darin finally topped the charts the same year with "Mack the Knife".
In 1959 "Turn Me Loose" was Fabian's first major hit. Frankie Avalon's "Venus" was a Number One US hit in 1959. In 1956 Jimmy Clanton formed his first band called the Rockets.

Little Richard had a big year in 1956, releasing such signature hits as "Rip it Up", "Slippin' and Slidin'" and "Long Tall Sally".

"Going to California" and "When the Levee Breaks" were not released as singles when the album was released. "Rock and Roll" featured former Rolling Stones pianist Ian Stewart on piano and was released as a single with "Four Sticks" as the flip side in 1972.

"At the Hop" was originally released by Danny and the Juniors. The song made it to Number One on the US charts in January, 1958. The song was a regional smash until the group made an appearance on Dick Clark's "American bandstand".
The song was originally titled "Do the Bop" when it was composed while the band was still going under the name of The Juvenairs. Dick Clark suggested they change the title of the song so it would not become a dance craze recording.
New Orleans native Danny Rapp was the lead singer.
