 Just another of many of Abba hits, released in 1978. Abba released the album 'Gold: Greatest Hits' in 1992, and another 'gold platinum' album in 1996.

Answer: "My Life" - Billy Joel

 While the 1970s where drawing to a close, Billy Joel made it known in 1979 that it was his life, leave him alone!

Answer: "I Got You" - Split Enz

 Split Enz produced this catchy hit in the year of 1980. The group was made up of New Zealand brothers Neil and Tim Finn and co. from Australia.

 All I can say is that Yes produced this little number in 1984.

 We've hit 1985, smack bam mid-1980s; sadly, a one-hit wonder for this Irish lad, but a beautiful song though.

Answer: "Land Of Confusion" - Genesis

 I'm uncannily engrossed with 1986 for some reason, ain't that weird? Genesis from the UK rock, and had a number one hit earlier in that year with 'Invisible Touch'. The video to 'Land of Confusion' consists of not the band members themselves, but puppet formations of them- funky vid!

Answer: "Don't Dream It's Over" - Crowded House

 Crowded House were formed in 1985 and originally called The Mullanes. Made up of New Zealand lead singer/songwriter/guitarist Neil Finn, and Australian's Paul Hester (drums) and Nick Seymour (bass). This smash went to number 2 on the U.S chart in April 1987.

 I love this video, which was filmed in New York City; you can see the twin towers in the distance as the lady walks along the top of the building. Lovely shots of Empire State Building too. 1988 was the year.

 Sniff sniff the end of the 80s. Well, in 1989 Madonna rose to controversial heights with this little number. Churches everywhere condemned it for its raunchiness!

Answer: "Joey" - Concrete Blonde

 1990 saw a one-hit wonder for Concrete Blonde.

Answer: "Fading Like A Flower" - Roxette

 Haunting song from 1991 for the band from Sweden, who also belted out hit after hit like "The Look", "Listen To Your Heart", and "Joyride".

Answer: "Why" - Annie Lennox

 1992, and line dancing came into fashion again! Remember Billy Ray Cyrus? He gave us that one! But Annie Lennox produced this haunting song for us, from the album "DIVA". 'Walking on Broken Glass' came with it too. Still, that's 10 years ago now.

 The theme song to the 1993 film "Philadelphia", for which Tom Hanks won an Oscar. From The Boss, Bruce Springsteen.

 From the biggest-selling debut album of all time(until Alanis came onto the scene), the Swedish quartet made this hit one of the biggest of 1994. Ace of Base was originally named Tech Noir. "All That She Wants" and "Don't Turn Around" are other huge songs.

Answer: "Sweet Dreams" - La Bouche

 The European duet La Bouche rocked the mid-nineties, especially in 1995, when the album 'Sweet Dreams' was released. It also contained the songs 'Be My Lover' and 'Fallin In Love'.

Answer: "Ironic"- Alanis Morissette

 1996, and Alanis burst onto the music scene and took the throne; her "Jagged Little Pill" album sold over 30 million copies and spawned 6 hits that I know of. "All I really Want", "You Oughta Know", "You Learn", "Ironic", "Head Over Feet", and "Hand In My Pocket"- don't get me wrong, they're all great!
20. (1997) "Now Freeze... Ahhoooowooahoahmmmmm".

Answer: "Men In Black" - Will Smith

 1997: We lost Lady Di and Mother Theresa, and a movie about a big ship that sank captivated audiences and the box office market. Oh, and you can't forget the "Men In Black", this song from the soundtrack.
21. (1998) "Baby you can drive my ... and maybe I could ride your ... but there's so many girls in your Jacuzzi, and you'll never get a piece of my ..."

Answer: "Ladidi Ladida" - S.O.A.P

 S.O.A.P consisted of two girls from Norway; they have sort of faded out in recent years. But they also had a hit with 'This Is How We Party'.

 Hail in 2000! The new millennium year came and went like that, but Madonna roared back into the charts again after 1998's hugely successful album 'Ray of Light' with 'Music', from the album of the same name.
