Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. 'Well, I'm not the world's most physical guy, but when she squeezed me tight she nearly broke my spine'?

Answer: Lola

'Down in old Soho where they drink champagne and it tastes just like cherry cola...c-o-l-a, cola...' This is by the Kinks. My friend Larry does a great version of this at karaoke.
2. 'No one heard the calling, no one came at all. They were too busy watching those old raindrops fall'?

Answer: Ride Captain Ride

I just got a CD off Ebay with this song on it. I've already listened to it twice and love it. A great song by Blues Image - did they make anything besides this one?
3. 'Wipe that paint off the face of a little town saint'?

Answer: Arizona

Also another track on my new CD. Mark Lindsay, who sang this, is part Native American. If you listen to the words, he talks about Arizona's Indian braids and other things. I think this is his best song overall.
4. 'The lights are much brighter there, you can forget all your troubles, forget all your cares...'?

Answer: Downtown

This song ROCKS! I am a huge Pet Clark fan and this one is my absolute favorite by her. I always think of 'I Know A Place' as kind of a sequel to 'Downtown'. How about you?
5. 'She took off to find the footlights and I took off to find the sky'?

Answer: Taxi

We lost a powerful lyricist, musician, and just an altogether enormous talent with Harry Chapin's untimely passing. I know that the song that's the most recognized by him is 'Cats in the Cradle', but there are other beauties like 'Taxi', 'Corey's Coming' 'All My Life's a Circle' and 'Womanchild', just to name a few.
6. 'I said the years had been a friend to her, that her eyes were still as blue'?

Answer: Same Old Lang Syne

I liked this song so much that I bought two copies of 'The Innocent Age' LP by Dan Fogelberg.
7. 'If you got a nickel won't you lay your money down'?

Answer: Down on the Corner

Never underestimate the power of a good Creedence song! My father is a big Creedence fan and we listened to this on the way to celebrate our Thanksgiving dinner with family.
8. 'Don't take me down if there's nowhere you're going to take me...'

Answer: I'm Easy

Believe it or not, 'I'm Easy' is by Keith Carradine. This song was in the movie 'Nashville' where Keith played a conceited country-western singer.
9. Which is not one of the names of the three grandchildren from the sweetly innocent Beatles song "When I'm 64"?

Answer: Paul

This is the answer to a question from the Baby Boomer Edition of Trivial Pursuit! Now you know the answer! :)
10. 'Once I thought that love was meant to anyone else but me'?

Answer: My Love

This is from 'My Love' by Pet Clark, one of my favorites.
11. A lot of women thought the Brit who sang these lyrics was sexy. Who is he? 'I took all those habits of yours that in the beginning were so hard to accept'?

Answer: Rod Stewart

I love the scene in 'So I Married an Axe Murderer' where Charlie McKenzie's dad (Mike Myers) is singing this song. 'You're in my heart, you're in my soul...'
12. 'Sylvia's marrying a fella down Galveston way'?

Answer: Sylvia's Mother

Dr. Hook and the Medicine Show. I found out by doing some research online that this song was written by Shel Silverstein.
13. 'I'd walk away like a movie star who gets burned in a three way script'?

Answer: If You Could Read My Mind

I remember spending rainy Sundays listening to this song...it made me a Gordon Lightfoot fan.
14. Which Billy Joel album features these lyrics - 'Nobody looked any finer, the king and the queen of the Parkway Diner'?

Answer: The Stranger

From 'Scenes from an Italian Restaurant' by Billy Joel, on the album 'The Stranger'. One of his best, in my opinion.
15. 'I'm just banging on this old piano, getting in tune to the straight and narrow'?

Answer: Gettin' In Tune

In 'Jerry Maguire' this is playing while Jerry types his mission statement, and this is one of my favorites by The Who.
16. A famous actress sang the original version of this song. Who was she? Here are the lyrics -'Well, the Georgia Patrol was a'makin' their rounds, so he fired a shot just to flag 'em down'?

Answer: Vicki Lawrence

Reba McEntire's version of 'The Night the Lights Went Out in Georgia' - terrific. Vicki Lawrence's - the best. I love this story of how little sister gets even with those who ruined her brother's life.
17. 'Talking about your troubles, it's a crying sin'?

Answer: Spinning Wheel

Blood Sweat and Tears is such a great band, and their songs are awesome! I love the brass and everything that they have going on there. This is from 'Spinning Wheel', probably one of their best-known songs.
18. 'And I would not give you false hopes...'?

Answer: Mother and Child Reunion

This song is very close to home for me. I'm adopted and sometimes I daydream about meeting my biological mom with this song playing. :)
19. Who sings the famous song with the beginning lyrics of 'Ooga Chaka, Ooga Chaka'?

Answer: Blue Swede

I like the BJ Thomas version of 'Hooked on a Feeling' better, but the 'ooga-chaka' beginning does have its own advantages. :)
20. 'The breeze along the river seems to say, he'll only break your heart again...'

Answer: Snowbird

Anne Murray's timeless "classic"...probably detested by most Canadians who had to listen to it continuously during the 70's. :)
