Holding on to my best friend
But you don't see me
So I make the same request now
Every single night
Going out from me to you
On the dedication line"
4. Which daughter of a music legend recorded "50,000 Watts"? Answer: Rosanne Cash

The song is from Rosanne's 2014 album "The River & the Thread". She told "Uncut" magazine in an interview that "[The song] feels like a heart-opener, looking into the future with so much hope, and knowing everything will be all right." The title was inspired by WDIA, a radio station in Memphis, whose tagline was "50,000 Watts of goodwill."
5. "How to wake up How to work tough How to roll up those sleeves How to throw down How to get loud What to put in that drink To give the stars in the sky a little halo I learned it from the radio." This is from the 2015 album "Tangled Up" by what country singer songwriter?

Answer: Thomas Rhett

Regarding this song, in an interview with radio.com Thomas Rhett said, "When you're 15, 16, 17 and hanging out on the weekend with all your friends, you listen to the radio, and it's where you learn a bunch of stuff about who you are, about love, about break-ups and about leaving home when you're 18."
6. Which coach on TV's "The Voice" sang "Country on the Radio" from the 2013 album "Based on a True Story..."

Answer: Blake Shelton

"As long as there's a small town and a Saturday night
Blue jean babies in the full moonlight
Tip back your Dixie, howl at the stars
Every time you hear that sly guitar
And your baby's on the tailgate
And you're stealing those kisses to a little George Strait
That's how we're rocking, that's how we roll
As long as there's country on the radio."

Blake Shelton told the country music web site roughstock.com: "Country radio created my personality and my career and my life, I mean it really did. I'd listen to Bob Kingsley's countdown every week and write down the top ten songs and bring it to art class in high school and read 'em off to people. I listened to the radio way more than I bought albums and discovered a lot of great music through the countdown. And I just love that song so much because it's about that relationship. And it's just one of the most perfect songs that I have ever had a chance to record."
7. From their second album called "The Hup" (1989) comes the song "Radio Ass Kiss" by a group called The Wonder Stuff. How would one best describe this group?

Answer: alternative rock band from England

"Radio Ass Kiss on the air
Say what you like now no one cares
Radio Ass Kiss on the air
Say what you like now no one's scared."

This song was released in the United States only where it reached #26 on the U.S. Modern Rock chart.
8. From Soul Asylum's 1988 album "Hang Time" comes this song with subtle radio-themed subtext.

Answer: "Heavy Rotation"

Heavy rotation is the radio term form a song or songs that are getting a massive amount of airplay on radio stations around the country. These dozen or so songs are shuffled around on the station playlist a little bit but can be counted on to be heard several times a day.

The excellent Soul Asylum song "Runaway Train" was one that enjoyed being on heavy rotation fr a while back in 1993. The title "Heavy Rotation" does not appear in the lyrics. When reading the lyrics ("Well, I got the right to free myself of fear / Stand over me and watch me disappear") you do get the sense of songwriter David Pirner's rebelling against record company demands for a hit record. Soul Asylum was a band on the cusp of fame and when in that position, bands get pushed and marketed to reach stardom.
9. The 1983 song "Magic's Wand" is about the radio DJ John "Mr. Magic" Rivas, who in 1982 came to WBLS in New York City and hosted his show called "Rap Attack." His following grew bigger and bigger because at the time it was the only hip hop show on radio. The song is about him and also a biography of the group that recorded it and how they formed. What was the group?

Answer: Whodini

"Cause then Magic went on the radio
And everybody said: "What a way to go!"
The moment he went on the air
It was plain to see a new phase was here
He started out playing mostly rap
Then they all said: "Nobody's into that"
Well, they all turned out to be wrong
Cause rappin on the mike had caught on strong
Some still say it's not what's happenin
After 'Rapper's Delight' went triple platinum."

Whodini consisted of the trio: Jalil Hutchins, John Fletcher (aka Ecstasy), and DJ Drew Carter (aka Grandmaster Dee).
10. Two songs from this group fit the bill of songs about the radio you might here on the radio. Answer: Black Sabbath

How is an instrumental song about the radio then? The song, written by Tony Iommi, was an homage to radio DJ Alan "Fluff" Freeman who was a champion of the group, being one of the few to play Black Sabbath's music consistently on the radio.
