Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. You always hear the question, "What was the first music played on MTV?" Well, what was the second music video played on MTV?

Answer: "You better run" by Pat Benatar

When MTV first aired, after fifteen boring minutes of the Apollo preparing to take off, the first ten music videos they played were:
1"Video Killed the Radio Star" by The Buggles
2"You Better Run" by Pat Benatar
3"She Won't Dance" by Rod Stewart
4"You Better You Bet" by The Who
5"Little Susie's on the Up" by Ph.D.
6"We Don't Talk Anymore" by Cliff Richard
7"Brass in Pocket" by The Pretenders
8"Time Heals" by Todd Rundgren
9"Take It on the Run" by REO Speedwagon
10"Rockin' the Paradise" by Styx
2. Which of these artist's fake names are the most similar to their real ones?

Answer: Jon Bon Jovi

Jon Bon Jovi's real name is Jon Bongiovi. I was surprised to see how close the name was, thinking that he pretty much pulled the Bon Jovi stuff out of the clear blue sky. David Bowie's real name is David Jones, Huey Lewis' real name is Hugh Anthony Cregg. (The third, I might add) And finally, Elvis Costello's real name is Declan McManus.
3. Which of these songs was originally made in the 80s?

Answer: It's My Life

"It's My Life" came out in 1984 by Talk Talk on the album "It's My Life", while "Mony Mony" came out in 1968 by Tommy James and the Shondells on the album "Mony Mony", "Venus" came out in 1969 by Shocking Blue on the album "At Home", and finally "Solsbury Hill" in 1977 by Peter Gabriel from the album "Peter Gabriel" (Car). (And yet for some reason I hear it on 80s channels)
4. Complete the lyric,"You were working as a waitress in a cocktail bar, when I met you. I picked you out, I shook you up, and turned you around, turned you into someone new. Now five years later on you've got the world at your feet..."

Answer: Success has been so easy for You

The Human League's "Don't You Want Me" from the 1981 album "Dare". This song was purposed to be a solo until the lead singer Philip Oakey saw the movie "A Star is Born" and turned it into a duet with one of the band's two female singers, Susanne Sulley.
5. Referring to the characters of "Livin' On A Prayer", in what Jon Bon Jovi song from the 1988 album "New Jersey" does he say, "Somebody even tells me Tommy's comin' down tonight, if Gina says it's alright."

Answer: 99 in the shade

He has also said that the song "Lie to Me" from the 1995 album "These Days" is about the two, although their names are not in the lyrics.
6. Which band did the song that starts as follows, "Look at them Yo Yo's, that's the way you do it"

Answer: Dire Straits

Dire Strait's "Money For Nothing" from the 1985 album "Brothers In Arms". Sting shares the songwriting credits with Mark Knopfler in this song because of his "I want my MTV" lyric, which was sung in imitation of his Police song's "Dont Stand So Close To Me". (After all these years of listening to those songs I never noticed it myself)
7. Paul Hewson is who's real name?

Answer: Bono

Elton John' real name is Reginald Kenneth Dwight, Billy Idol's real name is William Michael Albert broad, and Paul McCartney's full name is James Paul Mccartney. (Why is Paul better than James? )
8. Complete the lyric, "I wear my sunglasses at night, so I can, so I can, watch You weave, then breathe, your story lines. And I wear my sunglasses at night, So I can, so I can..."

Answer: Keep track of the visions in my eyes

Corey Hart's "Sunglasses At Night" from the 1983 album "First Offense". This song was transformed to be more "romantic" by urging from the record company. The song was originally where the government forced everybody to wear their sunglasses at night. (Who thinks of this stuff?)
9. The song "Der Kommissar" was originally made by who?

Answer: Falco

It was originally released by Falco in 1981 on the album "Helden Von Huete", which means 'heroes of today'. The English version was made in 1983 by After the Fire. Gehen is the German word for go. I just put that in because I didn't know of any other German artists besides Nena and because its one of my favorite words of that language. (I don't know why)
10. In Men At Work's "Down Under" music video, what did the lady give him for breakfast?

Answer: Cereal

From the 1983 album "Business As Usual". In this song the flute is made like the children's song 'Kookaburra'. (Did anyone else notice his koala plushie?)
