Status Quo had a number three hit on the UK chart with "Rockin' All Over The World" in 1977. It did not chart in the US. It made the Top ten in other countries including Belgium, Germany, Ireland, New Zealand, Norway, Sweden and Switzerland.

Status Quo have had more UK chart hits than any other group. In 2010 original group members Francis Rossi and Rick Parfitt were awarded the OBE in the UK New Years honours list for their services to music. They are still Rockin' despite their music being derided in certain quarters and a dispute with UK Radio 1 over not playing their 1994 collaboration with The Beach Boys, UK number 24 hit "Fun Fun Fun". They are still having UK hits and made number 31 in 2010 with a re-recording of their 1986 number two hit "In The Army Now". They may well rock 'til they drop.

Ex Monkees guitarist Mike Nesmith had a number 28 hit on the UK chart with "Rio" in 1977. It did not chart in the US.

Robert Michael Nesmith was born in 1942 in Texas USA. His mother Bette Nesmith Graham, was the inventor of a typewriter correction fluid known as "Liquid Paper". After leaving the USAF he wrote songs and released records on various labels from 1963 to 1965 which failed to chart. He answered the newspaper advertisement for "four insane boys" and became a member of The Monkees along with Davy Jones, Micky Dolenz and Peter Tork. Nesmith owns a media company called Pacific Arts which in litigation with various companies including PBS in 1999, won a settlement of over $48m. Ringo Starr was a member of The Beatles. Dave Davies was a member of The Kinks. Diana Ross was a member of The Supremes.

"Back In The U.S.S.R." by The Beatles was track one on their double album "The Beatles" (The White Album). The album reached number one for eight weeks on the UK album chart in 1968/69. It reached number one for nine weeks on the US Billboard album chart in 1968/69. "Back In The U.S.S.R." was released as a single and reached number 19 on the UK chart in 1976.

She did record a duet with fellow Welsh singer Shakin' Stevens, (a remake of the Dinah Washington and Brook Benton hit "A Rockin' Good Way (To Mess Around And Fall In Love)"). It reached number five on the UK chart in 1984. It did not chart in the US. She got her raspy voice after an operation to remove nodules from her vocal chords and not staying silent for the required period.

Billy Joel had a number 53 hit on the UK chart with "Leningrad" in 1989. It did not chart in the US.

Born William Martin Joel in New York in 1949, this singer/pianist/songwriter has had three number one hits on the US pop chart and one on the UK chart. He received the Grammy Living Legend Award in 1990. He was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1992 and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1999. He was married to model/actress/human and animal rights activist Christie Brinkley from 1985 to 1994.

The song was written for the movie "Buster" starring Phil Collins by Phil Collins and Lamont Dozier. The movie is about criminal Ronald "Buster" Edwards who was involved in "The Great Train Robbery" that took place in the UK in 1963.

His first success was as Judas Iscariot on the original "Jesus Christ Superstar" album, and in the movies "The Family Way" with Sir John Mills and "Sunday Bloody Sunday" with Peter Finch. Has appeared in UK TV series "Heartbeat" 2005 and "Doctors" 2010.

Johnny Cash and Lonnie Donegan recorded it as "I Want To Go Home" It was the seventh track on The Beach Boys album "Pet Sounds" which reached number ten on the Billboard album chart in 1966. It reached number two on the UK album chart the same year.
