Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. 'And to tell myself that I'm doing well is only making believe'

Answer: (Without You) What Do I Do With Me

This song is off of Tanya's "What Do I Do With Me" album and made the Top 10 Single list on the Billboard country chart.
2. 'You say when she kissed you, you didn't feel a thing'

Answer: Oh What It Did To Me

This song is one of my favorites! Here's a little Tanya info for you: She grew up in Wilcox, Arizona and started singing at the age of 6.
3. 'If your lips ain't got something pressing to do'

Answer: If Your Heart Ain't Busy Tonight

Another one of Tanya's songs from her "What Do I Do With Me" album that made the Top 10 Single list on the Billboard country chart.
4. 'You say you need someone to hold you tight, you can't stand another lonely night'

Answer: Tell Me About It

Tanya sings this song with Delbert McClinton. They were nominated in 1993 for CMA's "Vocal Event of the Year" for this song but lost it to George Jones & Friends for "I Don't Need Your Rockin' Chair."
5. 'Baby, your heart is in serious danger'

Answer: Don't Go Out

From her "Tennessee Woman" album, this song is a duet with T. Graham Brown. They, too, had a CMA "Vocal Event of the Year" nomination in 1990 but lost it to Lorrie Morgan and Keith Whitley for "Till A Tear Becomes A Rose."
6. 'When you walked in I shoulda walked out'

Answer: It's A Little Too Late

From her "Can't Run From Yourself" album, here's another Top 10 Single list favorite. More Tanya info: Did you know that she owns and enjoys riding her Hot Pink Harley Davidson motorcycle? Gosh, a hot pink Harley; that I would love to see!
7. 'I called up my baby for a little advice; 'Cos my sugar baby always treats me so nice'

Answer: Some Kind Of Trouble

Another Top 10 single from her "What Do I Do With Me" album. Quite a few Top 10 singles from this album. I counted a total of 4 during my research of it.
8. 'How much do I owe you? said the man to his Lord; For giving me this day and every day that's gone before.'

Answer: I Won't Take Less Than Your Love

The lyric I used for this song is actually sung by one of the guys who sings it with Tanya. They are Paul Davis and Paul Overstreet. And, the three of them also had a CMA "Vocal Event of the Year" nomination in 1988 for this song but lost it to Dolly Parton, Linda Ronstadt, and Emmylou Harris for their "Trio" album.
9. 'There ain't a thing in this world to make you fall in love girl'

Answer: San Antonio Stroll

'Like the San Antonio Stroll.' This is one of Tanya's songs from her earlier days. It hit the #1 spot on the Top 10 Single list on the Billboard country chart.
10. 'It's somethin' you been needin' for a long, long time'

Answer: Here's Some Love

From her "Here's Some Love" album that came out in September of 1976, this was another #1 single on the Billboard country chart. And, here's some more Tanya info for you: She has 3 children (2 girls and a boy), and her son was named Beau after her father Beau Tucker.
11. 'Beer just ain't as cold in old Milwaukee; My body's here, but my soul's in San Antone'

Answer: Texas ( When I Die)

I read somewhere that this is one of Tanya's favorite songs and one of her favorites to sing.
12. 'I don't care who or what you're doin''

Answer: Down To My Last Teardrop

Here's the fourth Top 10 single song from her "What Do I Do With Me" album that I mentioned above. However, the order in which they were released and made the chart, I'm not sure of. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the song "(Without You) What Do I Do With Me" was the first.
13. 'And hold me like you want to; Instead of like you have to'

Answer: Love Me Like You Used To

Tanya's "Love Me, Like You Used To" album was released in 1987 and contained this song which became another Top 10 single. Yes, she had lots of them!
14. 'I don't know much about love but at least I learned one thing'

Answer: If It Don't Come Easy

Also from her "Love Me, Like You Used To" album, this song hit the single chart at #1. A little more Tanya info: She's an avid competitor in cutting horse contests and she's won a few cutting horse championships.
15. 'So go your way I've had enough, the game you play is just too rough'

Answer: Don't Believe My Heart Can Stand Another You

'I don't believe my heart can stand another you.' But yes I think we can stand to know that Tanya won the Academy of Country Music's "Top New Female Vocalist of the Year" award in 1972.
16. 'Somebody oughta let her know; She's gotta let him go'

Answer: It Won't Be Me

More Tanya info: By the time she turned 15, she already had a Grammy nomination and a Greatest Hits album. Those are great accomplishments for any music artist, let alone a 15-year old!
17. 'When you say something that you can't take back'

Answer: Strong Enough To Bend

Another #1 single and definitely one of my favorites! This song was nominated in 1988 for "Song of the Year" by the Academy of Country Music, and the album "Strong Enough To Bend" was also nominated that same year for ACM's "Single Record of the Year" but lost both awards to Kathy Mattea's "Eighteen Wheels And A Dozen Roses."
18. 'Lead off with the Cotton-Eyed Joe; Buckin' winged, and heel and toe'

Answer: Pecos Promenade

'Hold me close for the Pecos Promenade; Big sign hangin' by the door, sawdust on an old dance floor; Tip your hat for the Pecos Promenade!' I think this is such a fun upbeat song of Tanya's to dance and sing to!
19. 'She's eighty-three and he's barely driving a car'

Answer: Two Sparrows In A Hurricane

Tanya won the Academy of Country Music's "Video of The Year" award in 1993 for this song. Such a beautiful song.
20. 'Everything will be right; It could be love that we're making'

Answer: Can I See You Tonight

From Tanya's "Dream Lovers" album in 1980, this is another classic Top 10 Single chart topper.
21. 'I'm the best thing, baby, that you ever had'

Answer: Walking Shoes

Tanya has had a total of 9 CMA nominations for "Female Vocalist of the Year." She walked away with this award in 1991 being the only time she has won it from CMA to date of 2002.
22. 'Cause I want, I want, a girl, a boy, Just to call, just to call, my own'

Answer: Dream Lover

Tanya sings this song with country music artist Glen Campbell. Tanya and Glen once had a romantic love affair while Glen was a married man. Their affair, however, was a rocky one full of drug abuse and violence.
23. 'It's better to have love and lost than to have never loved, I'm told'

Answer: What Do They Know

This song is from the "Can't Run From Yourself" album. It didn't make any chart toppers that I know of and I don't think it was played on the radio much, if at all. But, it's a really beautiful song about someone with a broken heart and how others just can't possibly know how it feels to lose that love.
24. This song isn't one of Tanya's, but she sang it for the album "Common Thread: The Songs Of The Eagles." Which Eagles song was it?

Answer: Already Gone

I think the country artists did a great job on this tribute album to the Eagles. Tanya, along with the other artists singing on this album, won a CMA "Album of the Year" award in 1994 for it.
25. 'Could it be a faded rose from days gone by'

Answer: Delta Dawn

This song was released in the spring of 1972 and became not only Tanya's first country hit but an instant hit as well. She was only 13 years old. My parents saw Tanya perform this song at Six Flag's Magic Mountain in Valencia, CA, when she was somewhere around that age. This is my all-time favorite Tanya Tucker song and so for me, that's why I had to save the best for last!
