She released her own version of the song in 1969 on her second album "Clouds." This album also included the song "Chelsea Morning". Reportedly this song inspired the naming of Former U.S. President Bill Clinton's daughter Chelsea.

Answer: Leon Russell

Leon Russell is among other things in the music business a prolific songwriter. Ray Charles won a Grammy for "The Best R&B Vocal by a Male Performer" category with his 1993 cover of "A Song For You". This was not the first or only song written by Russell to win a Grammy. Perhaps I should save that one for another quiz.
