Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. The song "Life From A Window" was recorded by which British band from the time around the first general "punk" era? The band had strong "mod" affiliations

Answer: The Jam

The Jam were Paul Weller's first band before the Style Council. "Life From A Window" was a track from their second album "This Is The Modern World".
2. Which 'San Francisco Scene' band recorded the song "Sitting By The Window"?

Answer: Moby Grape

This track was from Moby Grape's great debut album, which sadly bombed due to their record label's horribly misguided attempt to hype it into the charts and critic's hearts by doing every possible thing wrong. It all but stopped the band's career from the get go and in the process one of the scene's very best albums was a mere footnote until relatively recently when it was finally rediscovered for being a truly classic album.
3. "Look Through Any Window". This great great song was recorded by which British hit making machine?

Answer: The Hollies

The almost always amazing Hollies recorded "Look Through Any Window" in 1965. In the UK it was a single release. In The USA it was a track on their 1965 album 'Hear! Here!'. Up until the earlier part of the '70s The Hollies pretty much could do no wrong whatsoever, in my opinion. One of Britain's truly great bands.
4. Which act on the Motown label recorded the song "Lookin' Through The Windows"?

Answer: The Jackson 5

"Lookin' Through The Windows" was the title track from their 1972 album of the same name. It was released in 1972.
5. In the sixties the Jimi Hendrix Experience performed and recorded the song "Can You Please Crawl Out Your Window" for BBC radio. Who wrote the song?

Answer: Bob Dylan

One of Bob Dylan's best ever singles was "Can You Please Crawl Out Your Window" from 1965. It was covered by Jimi Hendrix on one of his many BBC broadcasts (and it was eventually released legitimately on the posthumously released 'BBC Sessions' album (after being a Jimi Hendrix Bootleg staple for decades).
6. Somebody had to eventually write and release a song called "Windowlicker". So... who was it? Be careful with your answer.

Answer: Aphex Twin

Richard David James recorded and released music under a whole bunch of different names, including Polygon Window and Caustic Window as well as his most well known one: Aphex Twin. The Thompson Twins had one really great song ('In The Name Of Love') and then followed that bit of inspiration up by recording absolutely nothing that anybody ever needs to hear again. Richard James, however, is still recording and issuing some of the most inventive music to be released under the techno, dance, or whatever you want to call it umbrella.
7. Joe Cocker recorded his wonderful version of which great Beatles song on his second album?

Answer: She Came In Through The Bathroom Window

On Joe's wonderful second album 'Cocker!'. Joe Cocker truly excelled with his choices of which songs to cover and making each cover 100% his own.
8. Utopia. As in "Todd Rundgren's Utopia". But this time just Utopia. They had a Window song. Do you know the name of it?

Answer: Windows

Windows was one of the stand out tracks of Utopia's 1977 album 'Oops! Wrong Planet', the first genuine group effort by what was originally a Todd Rundgren project. This track was written and sung by the band's keyboard player Roger Powell.
9. "A Face In The Window". Hetfield? Ozzy? Dio? Mustaine? Araya? I just don't know who sings this. Help me out!

Answer: Dio

Thrown in for the sake of variety. To be perfectly honest I have never even heard the song, but I am rather certain many of you have. It was on a list of songs with Window(s) in the title and I thought it might be fun to have a metal song or two in the quiz. The track appears on the 1987 Dio album 'Dream Evil'.
10. Mahogany Rush recorded a song with something about a window in the title, didn't they? Or was it Rush? Nope. Pretty sure it was Mahogany Rush. I think. Regardless: what was the name of that damn song?

Answer: Window To The World

Frank Marino & Mahogany Rush released their album 'Eye Of The Storm' in 2000. And this album featured the track "Window To The World". According to a very high amount of online sources it would appear that Rush also recorded a song by this title. Which allegedly is on their Power Windows album.

But if you look up that album no track by that title appears to be on it regardless of what online info claims it to be on said album! Which is why I had to make this a Mahogany Rush question (I TRIED to throw all you Rush fans a bone...).
