Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What song is this from? "Money, get away, get a good job with more pay and you're OK."

Answer: Money

From 'Dark Side Of The Moon'. This song is often considered as Pink Floyd's best, and it has probably the most unusual time signature, it starts off in 7/8, then goes to 4/4 then back to 7/8. The coin sounds at the beginning were made by bassist Roger Waters in his shed!
2. This is the opening sentence of which famous Floyd song? "Ticking away the moments that make up a dull day."

Answer: Time

From 'Dark Side Of The Moon' (again). Probably one of my favourite Floyd songs, this one. The amazing solo from Dave Gilmour is definitely the highlight, apparently all his solos are done in one take, otherwise he just ends up repeating himself.
3. These are the opening lyrics for what song? "I am just a new boy, a stranger in this town."

Answer: Young Lust

Taken from 'The Wall'.
4. What song is this from? "Remember when you were young, you shone like the sun."

Answer: Shine on You Crazy Diamond

Taken From 'Wish You Were Here'. Another of my favourite Floyd songs, "Shine on You Crazy Diamond" is a heartfelt tribute to ex-bandmate Syd Barrett, who left due to health reasons.
5. These are the opening words to what classic Floyd song? "I've got a bike you can ride it if you like."

Answer: Bike

Taken from their debut 'Piper At The Gates Of Dawn'. "Bike" is a weird and wacky song that shows Syd Barrett at his best. "I've got a mouse and he hasn't got a house, I don't know why I call him Gerald."
6. What song is this from? "Overhead the albatross hangs motionless upon the air"

Answer: Echoes

Taken From 'Meddle'. "Echoes", Pink Floyd's most epic track, is precisely 23:31 long. It took up a whole side on the vinyl!
7. Which song begins with this? "Into the distance, a ribbon of black Stretched to the point of no turning back."

Answer: Learning To Fly

Taken From 'Momentary Lapse Of Reason'.
8. These are the first few lines of which song? "You cannot reach me now, no matter how you try, goodbye cruel world it's over, walk on by."

Answer: Waiting For The Worms

Taken From 'The Wall'. A bit misleading that one, "Goodbye Cruel World" is the last track on the first half of the double album, and is reprised at the beginning of "Waiting For The Worms".
9. What song is this from? "Icy wind of night be gone, this is not your domain"

Answer: Grantchester Meadows

Taken From 'Ummagumma'. The cover for "Ummagumma" is particularly interesting, and like most other Pink Floyd album covers, was designed by Storm Thorgerson, the genius behind Hipgnosis.
10. Which song kicks off with these words? "It was just before dawn, one miserable morning in black '44."

Answer: When The Tigers Broke Free

From the 2004 reissue of 'The Final Cut', Floyd's last album with Roger Waters.
