Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. David Bowie performed the song, "Under Pressure", with what other singer?

Answer: Freddie Mercury

This song is not on any David Bowie album, but it is on Queen's 1982 album, "Hot Space". This is a great song; I think it's one of the best duet songs of all time.
2. In the mid-80's, Bowie did his own version of a song called, "Dancing in the Street". He performed this song with whom?

Answer: Mick Jagger

Even though David Bowie was given more credit for this song, Mick Jagger seems to be more of the star of the music video.
3. Which song on Bowie's 1971 album, "Hunky Dory", ended up being the #1 blockbuster hit on the album?

Answer: "Changes"

Bowie looks very freaky on the cover of this album.
4. Did the 1977 song, "Heroes", have a music video to it?

Answer: Yes

Making music videos was not a common thing to do in the 70s, but David Bowie had made quite a few since 1972.

Answer: "Suffragette City"

The full title of this album is, "The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars".
6. "All the Young Dudes" was a single released after the "Ziggy Stardust" album. It was later put on the remastered version of what album?

Answer: "Aladdin Sane"

"All the Young Dudes" became a big hit for Mott the Hoople, thanks largely to Bowie's influence.

This was probably Bowie's biggest hit in the early 80's.
9. Which Bowie song contains the lyric, "I stumble into town just like a sacred cow, visions of swasticas in my head, plans for everyone, it's in the white of my eyes"?

Answer: "China Girl"

"China Girl" is the longest song on the "Let's Dance" album (aside from the album version of the title track), and it also happens to be my favorite song on the album.
10. What is the name of the song that David Bowie wrote for the movie, "The Falcon and the Snowman"?

Answer: This Is Not America

David Bowie performed this song with the Pat Metheny Group.
11. What song on the 1976 album, "Station to Station" made the highest chart position?

Answer: "Golden Years"

Though it was the shortest song on the album, it was the most popular. This album's style was probably the closest thing that Bowie ever came to Disco.
12. Which David Bowie song contains a lyric to a Beatles song?

Answer: "Young Americans"

If you listen very carefully, you might hear the background singers sing, "I read the news today, oh boy", the famous lyric from the Beatles song, "A Day in the Life". I'd also like to add the fact that on the "Young Americans" album, Bowie does his own version of "Across the Universe".
13. There's a song on "Hunky Dory" about a specific planet. Which planet?

Answer: Mars

The song is called, "Life On Mars?", which I personally think makes a great closing song.
14. "Diamond Dogs", the title track to Bowie's 1974 album, was remade for the 2001 movie, "Moulin Rouge", by what artist?

Answer: Beck

Even though Beck's version is shorter and more abstract, both versions are great. Coincidently, David Bowie performed a song for the movie as well, "Nature Boy".
15. David Bowie played the lead role in what 1986 movie?

Answer: Labyrinth

David Bowie played the role of Jareth, the Gobblin King. He also wrote five songs for this movie, but he only sang four of them. The rest of the music in "Labyrinth" was written by Trevor Jones.
