Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. "She was a fast machine. She kept her motor clean. She was the best damn woman that I'd ever seen."

Answer: AC/DC

"You Shook Me All Night Long", from the album "Back in Black", originally released in 1980. This album also includes the classics, "Hell's Bells", "Shoot to Thrill", and "Have a Drink On Me". AC/DC's greatest album. Bon Scott would have loved it.
2. "My eyes dilate, my lips go green, my hands are greasy. She's a mean, mean machine."

Answer: The Rolling Stones

"Start Me Up", from the album "Tattoo You", originally released in 1981. This album also includes the tunes, "Neighbors", "Worried About You", "Hang Fire", and "Waiting on a Friend". Although nothing can compare to the Stones' amazing run of great albums between 1967 and 1978, "Tattoo You" is an excellent album from start to finish.
3. "You dreamed of a big star. He played a mean guitar. He always ate in the Steak Bar. He loved to drive in his Jaguar. So, welcome to the machine."

Answer: Pink Floyd

"Welcome to the Machine", from the album "Wish You Were Here", originally released in 1975. This album also includes the tunes "Wish You Were Here", "Have a Cigar", and "Shine On You Crazy Diamond (Parts I&II)". In fact, these are all the songs on the album, but they are all classic tunes. Great album.
4. "Can't you see me standing here; I've got my back against the record machine. I ain't the worst that you've seen. Ah, can't you see what I mean?"

Answer: Van Halen

"Jump", from the album "1984", originally released in, of course, 1984. This album also includes the tunes, "I'll Wait", "Hot for Teacher", and "Panama". This was the last VH album with David Lee Roth on lead vocals.
5. "Sweet hitch-hiker, we could make music at the Greasy King. Sweet hitch-hiker, won't you ride on my fast machine?"

Answer: Creedence Clearwater Revival

"Sweet Hitch-Hiker", from the album "Mardi Gras", originally released in 1972. This album also includes the tunes, "Lookin' For a Reason" and "Someday never Comes". Creedence only released seven studio albums in their brief six-year stint together, but they were all superb albums, replete with classic tunes.
6. "Ooh, it's a killing machine; it's got everything, like driving power, big fat tires, and everything. I love it, and I need it, and I bleed it."

Answer: Deep Purple

"Highway Star", from the album "Machine Head", originally released in 1972. This album also includes the tunes, "Smoke on the Water", "Never Before", and Space Truckin'". Deep Purple's most famous lineup consisted of Ian Gillan (vocals), Ritchie Blackmore (guitar), Roger Glover (bass), Ian Paice (drums), and Jon Lord (keyboards), but the band has had many different members over the years, including such big names as Joe Satriani, David Coverdale, and Steve Morse.
7. "The Telex machine is kept so clean and it types to a waiting world. And Mother feels so shocked, father's world is rocked, and their thoughts turn to their own little girl."

Answer: The Boomtown Rats

"I Don't Like Mondays". Perhaps the Rats' most famous song, it was originally released as a single in 1979. Bob Geldof composed the tune after hearing a news report about a 16-year-old girl near San Diego, Calif., who opened fire on a school from her house across the street, killing the school principal and janitor and injuring several others.

She claimed she went on the killing spree because, "I guess, I just don't like Mondays."
8. "But the years went by and the rock just died. Suzie went and left us for some foreign guy. Long nights crying by the record machine, dreaming of my Chevy and my old blue jeans."

Answer: Elton John

"Crocodile Rock", from the album "Don't Shoot Me, I'm Only the Piano Player", originally released in 1973. This album also includes the tunes, "Daniel", "Elderberry Wine", and "High Flying Bird". Elton John and his song-writing partner, Bernie Taupin, have put out countless classic tunes over their many years together.
9. "She's winding them down on her clock machine, and she won't give up 'cause she's seventeen. She's a frozen fire; she's my one desire."

Answer: The Cars

"Let's Go", from the album "Candy-O", originally released in 1979. This album also includes the tunes, "Dangerous Type", "It's All I Can Do", and "Got a Lot on My Head". This song, as well as many other Cars' hits, were sung by their late bassist, Benjamin Orr.
10. Time once again for the mystery word. Without going back to peek, tell me: What one word was used at least once in each of the previous nine lyrics?

Answer: Machine

Once again, no particular reason for using the word, "machine", but they were some pretty cool tunes. Hope everyone enjoyed it. Keep on' quizzin'.
