Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In 1999, which classical music fan replaced Dennis DeYoung for the "Brave New World" tour?

Answer: Lawrence Gowan

Lawrence was in the band "Rhinegold" for five years, which played classical music.
2. Who replaced Tommy Shaw?

Answer: Glen Burtnik

After "Kilroy Was Here", Glen Burtnik relaced Tommy until "Return to Paradise". A couple years after, Glen replaced Chuck Panozzo as Bassist.

Actually, Billy Bob Thorton did the lead vocals for "Bourgeois Pig", a short track on "Cyclorama".
3. Who did Tommy Shaw replace FIRST?

Answer: John Curulewski

John Curulewski was only a part of the band until the mid-70's, then died a few years later.

Tommy replaced Glen Burtnik, a few years after Glen replaced Tommy.
4. What is the first name of the "Panozzo" that Todd Sucherman replaced?

Answer: John

Chuck Panozzo's twin brother John died in 1996 of a gastrointestinal hemorrhage and liver damage caused by years of alcoholism.

On Todd's first album, a live one named "Return to Paradise", the end had a studio song named "Dear John", which Tommy Shaw wrote for John Panozzo.

I also thought I could trick the common man by not using John's name until now, so you might think Chuck was the answer.
5. Who replaced Glen Burtnik his second time around?

Answer: Ricky Phillips

in the 80's, Tommy went on to a different band, and Glen replaced him as vocals. In the mid-90s', Tommy replaced Glen.

In 1999/2000, Glen replaced Chuck as the bass player. Even though every once in a while, Chuck will still come and perform for a song or two.

In 2003, Ricky Phillips replaced Glen as the bassist.

Robert, or ROCK, was Dennis DeYoung's stage alias for the "Kilroy Was Here" tour in 1983.
6. Who replaced James Young?

Answer: Nobody

James is the only full-time member of Styx who is not a replacement.

"Edward", came from the song James sings called "Eddy". I'm sure you can guess who it was about.
7. Who did lead vocals in "Lorelei" after Dennis DeYoung left?

Answer: James Young

On the live CD," 21st Century Live", James Young sings "Lorelei".
8. Why did Dennis DeYoung say he left the band?

Answer: An illness that made him sensitive to light.

Some rumors say Tommy poisoned him, but those are usually jokes or song paradies.
9. Besides James Young, who played the guitar on the "Edge of the Century" album.

Answer: Glen Burtnik

That was the small time when Tommy was playing with the band "Damn Yankees".

John played guitar before Tommy Joined, and Lawrence was not in the band at the time.

This was Glen's only album without Tommy.
10. Okey, this song does not match the other questions, but it it does match the title. Who was on the original 1973 recoding of "Lady" but was not on the re-recording of it for the "Greatest Hits" album?

Answer: John Curulewski

Styx wanted "Lady" for their "Greatest Hits", but was not allowed to use the old version, because of the change in recording labels. Instead Styx redid it, using Tommy Shaw instead of John on guitar.
