Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Swedish band ABBA not only repeated their initials to form their name, but they often repeated words in their song titles. Which of these is not an ABBA song?

Answer: Corrina, Corrina

Bo Chapman first recorded "Corrina, Corrina" in 1928, although it wasn't copy written until 1930. It was re-recorded that same year by The Mississippi Sheiks but is probably most closely associated with Bob Dylan who sang it in 1962.
"Corrina, Corrina" is also the name of a 1994 movie starring Whoopi Goldberg.
2. The Mamas and the Papas had a big hit in 1966 with which daily repeater?

Answer: Monday Monday

The Mamas and the Papas recorded "Monday Monday" in 1966 for their album "If You Can Believe Your Eyes and Ears". The song was the group's only number one hit on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100.
3. Which fictional group had the number one hit "Sugar Sugar" in 1969?

Answer: The Archies

Jeff Barry and Andy Kim penned the song "Sugar Sugar" which became a number one hit single for the animated pop group The Archies in 1969. "Sugar Sugar" was also the number-one single of the year for 1969 and listed at number 63 on Billboard's "Greatest Songs of All Time".
4. Which Doris Day song, also covered by The Pussycat Dolls, was featured in the Australian comedy film "Strictly Ballroom"?

Answer: Perhaps, Perhaps, Perhaps

Osvaldo Farres composed the song "Quizás, Quizás, Quizás" which became a hit in 1947. The English lyrics were penned by Joe Davis.

The song has been covered many times, with Doris Days' 1964 version appearing in "Strictly Ballroom" (1992). Geri Halliwell of Spice Girls notoriety released the song as the B-side of "Bag It Up" in 2000, and The Pussycat Dolls recorded it as a bonus track on their 2008 "Doll Domination" CD.
5. Which British band can leave you tongue-tied with their 1980 hit "De Do Do Do, De Da Da Da"?

Answer: The Police

The Police released "De Do Do Do De Da Da Da", the second single off their album "Zenyattà Mondatta" in 1980. It reached number five on the UK Singles charts, and ten on the Billboard Hot 100.
The song also featured on the 1982 movie "The Last American Virgin" and its soundtrack.
6. The Beach Boys may be better known for their vibrations and girls, but they are also the owners of this 1964 hit.

Answer: Fun, Fun, Fun

The Beach Boys members Brian Wilson and Mike Love wrote the hit song "Fun, Fun, Fun" for their 1964 album "Shut Down Volume 2". The song was allegedly written about the daughter of Salt Lake City's KNAK radio station's owner. Murray Wilson, Brian's father, deemed the song immoral, along with their other hits "Why Do Fools Fall in Love" and "I Get Around".

It caused a rift between manager Murray and the band, which led to his sacking as the band's manager.
7. Which Sailor song shares the same name as an Elvis Presley movie and a heavy metal album?

Answer: Girls, Girls, Girls

Sailor lead singer Georg Kajanus wrote the hit song "Girls, Girls, Girls", released off their self-titled 1970 album.
Heavy metal band Motley Crue's fourth studio album also shared the title "Girls, Girls, Girls", and was also a 1962 movie starring Elvis Presley.
8. Cher had a hit with a song more commonly remembered as "It's in His Kiss". But that's only half of the title. What is the rest?

Answer: The Shoop Shoop Song

"The Shoop Shoop Song (It's in His Kiss) was originally a number one hit for Betty Everett in 1964, despite her deeming the song puerile. Cher released her version of the song in 1991 where it became an international hit.
9. Paul McCartney and Michael Jackson have more in common than Jackson purchasing the publishing rights to the "Beatles" catalogue of songs. Which song did they jointly release in 1983?

Answer: Say, Say, Say

After Paul McCartney collaborated with Jackson on "The Girl Is Mine" from the album "Thriller" (1982), Jackson returned the favour on "Say, Say, Say" from McCartney's 1983 album "Pipes of Peace".

In 1984, Jackson bought the publishing rights to over four thousand Beatles songs that were owned by Associated Television Corporation. He received 50% of loyalties on these songs with the Beatles members sharing the remaining 50%. He allegedly wanted to give the rights back to McCartney but this was not in his will. Jackson had also sold half of his shares to Sony/ATV in 2005, and used the other half as collateral for a loan.
