Connolly moved with his family to London when he was 12 years old, where he would eventually meet the other members of Sweet, originally called Sweetshop. The band had a UK number one in 1973 with "Blockbuster". Connolly died of liver failure in 1997.

Lulu, born in Lennoxtown in 1948, first made the UK top ten with "Shout", in 1964. As well as being a successful singer, she also turned her hand to acting, starring with Sidney Poitier in the 1967 film "To Sir With Love". The title song made number one in the USA.

Sadly, Clydebank FC went bust in 2002. The members of Wet Wet Wet met at Clydebank High School, and formed their first band there in 1982, called Vortex Motion. Wet Wet Wet had their first hit single in 1987 with "Wishing I Was Lucky". Their debut album, "Popped In Souled Out" reached number one in the UK album charts later that same year.

Their biggest hit of the 20th century was "Love Is All Around" which spent 15 weeks at number one in Britain in 1994.
