The girl from Ipanema goes walking
And when she passes, I smile, but she
doesn't see. She just doesn't see
No, she just doesn't"

"The Girl from Ipanema" ("Garota de Ipanema") was a worldwide hit with different versions throughout the 1960's. It won a Grammy Award in 1965 for Record of the Year. Ipanema is a fashionable district of Rio de Janeiro in Brazil.

Answer: Africa

"It's gonna take a lot to drag me away from you
There's nothing that a hundred men or more could ever do
I bless the rains down in Africa
Gonna take some time to do the things we never had"

"Africa" was written and sang by US rock band Toto. It appeared on their 1982 album "Toto IV". In February 1983 the single reached number one on the US Billboard Hot 100 and number three on the UK Singles Chart.

It nearly wasn't included on the album as the group had become tired of the song after spending so long writing it and some members were worried that it was too different from their usual music. After it's release it was played on all the bands tours until 2008 when they broke up.

Answer: Europe

"Ooh I've been to Nice and the Isle of Greece
while I've sipped champagne on a yacht
I've moved like Harlow in Monte Carlo
and showed 'em what I've got"

"I've Never Been to Me" was written by Ron Miller for Charlene Duncan. She released the song twice - first in 1976 where it reached 97 on the Billboard Hot 100 Singles Chart and again in 1982 when it became a major hit reaching number one in the UK and Australia and number three in the US.

The song has the singer replying to a bored housewife who wishes her life could be as exciting and glamorous. "You've got me turning up, I'm turning down
I'm turning in, I'm turning out
I'm turning Japanese, I think I'm turning Japanese
I really think so"

"Turning Japanese" was a 1980 hit for UK new wave pop band "The Vapors". The song did best in Australia where it reached number one on the ARIA Singles Chart. It charted at number three on the UK Singles Chart and number 36 on the US Billboard Hot 100.

The song was written before their first single but, knowing it would be a hit, they chose to not release it first hoping not to become a 'one hit wonder'. They never did match it's success and the band only lasted from 1979 to 1981.

The lyrics are about a prisoner talking about pictures of his love taped to his cell wall. Dave Fenton, the groups vocalist and songwriter, says "Turning Japanese is all the clichés about angst and youth and turning into something you didn't expect to."

Oh yeah, and I have met my destiny in quite a similar way
The history book on the shelf
Is always repeating itself

Waterloo - I was defeated, you won the war
Waterloo - Promise to love you for ever more
Waterloo - Couldn't escape if I wanted to
Waterloo - Knowing my fate is to be with you"

"Waterloo" was written and performed by ABBA for the 1974 Eurovision Song Contest. It won the contest and became a worldwide hit reaching the top ten in 15 countries. As of 2009, it is still the only Eurovision winner that has made it into the US top 40 where it reached number six.

The lyrics compare the singers love life with the defeat of Napoleon Bonaparte and the French Empire by the Duke of Wellington and his forces at the Battle of Waterloo in Belgium on the 18th June 1815.
