Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Which alternate rock song do these lyrics belong to? "And I don't want the world to see me Cause I don't think that they'd understand When everything's made to be broken I just want you to know who I am"

Answer: Iris

"Iris" was written by the Goo Goo Dolls for the 1998 movie "City of Angels". The song is found on the album "Dizzy Up the Girl" from same year and is number one on Billboard's "Top 100 Pop Songs from 1992 - 2012". Avril Lavigne sang the song with them live in 2004 and it was her first dance at her wedding to Deryck Whibley. "When the World Breaks Your Heart" is another Goo Goo Dolls song but it from 2013.
2. Which love song includes these lyrics and repeats them several times? "Say you'll love, love me forever Never stop, never whatever Near and far and always And everywhere and everything"

Answer: I Love You Always Forever

"Now in a Minute" is actually a Donna Lewis album title and "Love and Affection" along with "I Love You Always Forever" are both found on it. "My Heart Will Go On" is from the 1997 movie "Titanic" and sung by Celine Dion. But Donna Lewis did do a song in 1997 for the animated movie "Anastasia" as a duet with Richard Marx entitled "At the Beginning"; it is played over the credits.
3. Which rock band sang the lyrics to this catchy song? "Little Miss, Little Miss, Little Miss Can't Be Wrong Ain't nobody gonna bow no more when you sound your gong Little Miss, Little Miss, Little Miss Can't Be Wrong What'cha gonna do to get into another on of these rock 'n' roll songs?"

Answer: Spin Doctors

These lyrics are from the song "Little Miss Can't Be Wrong" originally sung by the Spin Doctors and it has been covered by The Black Crows. The song is on the 1991 album "Pocket Full of Kryptonite". In 2011 a two disc anniversary edition was released.

Rascal Flatts may not have sung this particular song but they did cover "Life is a Highway" for the movie "Cars" in 2006. And The Rembrandts sang "I'll Be There for You" which is known for being the theme of the TV show "Friends".
4. Which 80s heavy metal band also did this 1991 ballad? "If we could take the time to lay it on the line I could rest my head just knowing that you were mine All mine So if you want to love me then darlin' don't refrain Or I'll just end up walking, in the cold November rain"

Answer: Guns N' Roses

Prince may not have done "November Rain" but he did do "Purple Rain" in the 80s. And neither is the song by Elton John but he did perform it with GnR in 1992 at the VMAs where they were nominated for Best Art Direction in a Video and won Best Cinematography in a Video and the Video Vanguard Award.
5. Who sang this 90s love song? "Oh, kiss me beneath the milky twilight Lead me out on the moonlit floor Lift your open hand Strike Up the band and make the fireflies dance Silver moon's sparkling So kiss me"

Answer: Sixpence None the Richer

"Kiss Me" is found on the band's self-titled album from 1997. It was played in the background of two "Dawson's Creek" season two episodes. It was the theme for the 1999 movie "She's All That" and was also featured in "How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days" from 2003. The song has also been covered by Avril Lavigne and a few others and was sung by Janet Devlin on "The X Factor".
6. Which word fills in both blanks and is also the title of this song? "I'm all out of faith, this is how I feel I'm cold and I am shamed, lying naked on the floor Illusion never changed into something real I'm wide awake and I can see the perfect sky is _____ You're a little late, I'm already _____"

Answer: Torn

Many believe this song is originally by Natalie Imbruglia (I know I did until looking into this song for the quiz) but her version is actually a cover done in 1997. It was originally by the band Ednaswap in 1995 on their debut album. But the song was written in 1993 before the band was around and the first recording was sung by Danish singer Lis Sørensen with the title being "Brændt" which is translated into English as "Burnt".
7. Which boy band sang this pop hit? "All you people can't you see? Can't you see? How your love's affecting our reality Every time we're down, you can make it right And that makes you larger than life"

Answer: Backstreet Boys

The song "Larger Than Life" is the first track on the album "Millennium" from 1999. This song was written by Max Martin, Kristian Lundin and band member Brian Littrell as a thank you to fans. The Backstreet Boys formed in 1993 and celebrated 20 years in 2013 with their first independent album "In a World Like This" and a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Kevin Richardson left after the tour for "Never Gone" in 2006 but returned in 2012, in time for a new Christmas single "It's Christmas Time Again" later that year.
8. Which group sang this pop song? "I saw the sign and it opened up my eyes I saw the sign Life is demanding without understanding I saw the sign and it opened up my eyes I saw the sign No one's gonna drag you up to get into the light where you belong But where do you belong"

Answer: Ace of Base

"The Sign" is an Ace of Base song which got a nomination for "Best Pop Vocal Performance By a Group or Due" at the 1995 Grammy Awards. The song was covered by Stephani Tanner's band on "Full House". It was also covered and sung a capella as part of a medley in the movie "Pitch Perfect". And "Ace of Cakes" is actually a TV show on the Food Network about Charm City Cakes in Baltimore, MD.
9. Which 90s One-Hit-Wonder do these lyrics belong to? "He sings the songs that remind him of the good times He sings the songs that remind him of the best times Oh Danny Boy, Danny Boy, Danny Boy I get knocked down but I get up again. You're never gonna keep me down I get knocked down but I get up again. You're never gonna keep me down"

Answer: Tubthumping

"Baby Got Back" is by Sir Mix-A-Lot, "Life Is a Highway" is by Tom Cochrane, and "The Mummer's Dance" is by Loreena McKennitt.

But this question was about "Tubthumping" by Chumbawamba. The song was listed as number 12 on "Rolling Stone's" 20 Most Annoying Songs. It was used in the Disney movie "Honey, We Shrunk Ourselves". And an extra bit of trivial knowledge, the line "Oh Danny Boy, Danny Boy, Danny Boy" is probably in reference to an Irish folk song.
10. Which song title fits into the blank from this 1999 pop hit? "No matter the distance, I want you to know That deep down inside of me You are my fire, the one desire Yes, I know, it's too late But _______________________"

Answer: I Want It That Way

So the answer is "I Want It That Way" or as some say "I Want It Thatta Way". This song is my personal favorite of both the decade and Backstreet Boys. It is from their 1999 album "Millennium" and arguably their best song. A parody version called "eBay" was done by Weird Al and the originally song has been covered by many.

"It's Gotta Be You" is also on the 1999 album. "I'll Never Break Your Heart" is from the first album which is self-titled and "I Promise You" is from the 2000 album "Black and Blue".
