Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. "Pick of Destiny" is the second release by Tenacious D. What is the name of their first?

Answer: Tenacious D

The first album, "Tenacious D", was released during the year 2001. It peaked at number 33 on the Billboard 200 in October that year.
2. Complete the lyric: "I love you baby, but all I can think about is ____________"

Answer: kielbasa sausage

"Kielbasa" is the first track on the album. It was never released as a single, although many rumours were spread about it being released shortly after "Tribute".
3. At the end of "Kielbasa", what does Kyle Gass describe the song as?

Answer: TNT

Jack and Kyle make the listener get the impression that the song is newly-written by saying "Dude, we gotta write something new" at the beginning.
4. The first of the seven 'non-songs' is about Jack Black claiming to make a song using only one note. What is the name of this song?

Answer: One Note Song

This 'song' consists of Jack creating a song using only one note on the guitar whilst 'once in a while bending it', and Kyle arguing that it's only one note.
5. Which famous musician played the drums in "Tribute"?

Answer: Dave Grohl

Interestingly, Dave also plays the devil in the video to this song.
6. Who directed and edited the video for "Tribute"?

Answer: Liam Lynch

Liam Lynch also directed and edited his own song, "United States of Whatever". Dave Grohl played the drums and the devil, Jack Black wrote and played the song, and Ben Still made a cameo appearance as a passer-by in the shopping mall.
7. "Kyle Quit the Band" is another song on the album. Why did Kyle 'leave the band'?

Answer: Argument

The previous song, "Inward Singing", was again made by Jack, after claiming that he'd created the best thing 'since yodelling'. Kyle once again criticised Jack's creation, forcing him to leave the band, and returning a week later.
8. In the song "The Road", Jack Black claims to think of his 'baby' in which US state?

Answer: Michigan

Jack also says that the road is 'the only road' that he knows.
9. Complete the lyric: "Dio has rocked, for a long, long time, now it's time for him to ______________".

Answer: pass the torch

Tenacious D struggled to get permission from the band Dio to use their name on the album, but after much negotiation, they accepted and were allowed to even name the song "Dio".
10. Only two songs on the "Tenacious D" album are named after people. One is "Dio". Which is the other?

Answer: Lee

Jack and Kyle sing about a friend they had, named Lee. Memorable lines from this song include 'Skinny dipping in a sea of Lee', and 'I proposed on bended knee, to Lee...'.
11. In the song "Friendship", Jack Black has said that he is facing a bear. Which of the following does he then mention?

Answer: Chair

"Oh no there's a bear, would you hand me that shotgun buddy, also that chair" is the actual verse.
12. In the song "Karate", where do the band claim they'll kick you to?

Answer: Tiananmen Square

Later in the song, they say that they'll kick you to 'right over there', too, although this hardly makes any sense, coming from a music track.
13. JB and KG pretend to be in a car for this particular 'non-song'. What is it called?

Answer: Drive-Thru

Jack Black orders next to everything on the menu, while Kyle orders only two items. The pair do not have enough money to pay for everything, so Jack says to cancel 'the last two things on the order', which was Kyle's food.
14. The final song on the album, "City Hall", actually contains two songs. What is the second song on this track called?

Answer: Malibu

After "City Hall" (part one), there is around half a minute break before Kyle starts playing the guitar again. Jack begins singing "Malibu nights, tangerine dreams".
15. Complete the lyric: "Thinkin' 'bout a couple things to say to you, __________".

Answer: showin'

This is from "Double Team", where the pair talk about having general fun, and comparing their fun to others'.
