The Beach Boys were made up of brothers Brian, Dennis and Carl Wilson, their cousin Mike Love and a friend Al Jardine. Brian Wilson was songwriter, singer, producer, arranger for the group and bass guitarist. Dennis Wilson was the band's drummer. Carl Wilson was the guitarist and occasional lead singer. Mike Lowe was songwriter and singer and Al Jardine was guitarist and occasional lead singer. 'Surfin' Safari' was written by Brian Wilson and Mike Lowe. Mike Lowe was lead vocals with the other four contributed to backing vocals. Bruce Johnson joined the group in 1965.

He provided vocals for the group on tour.

Al Jardine was a fan of folk music and he came across the track 'Sloop John B'. He brought the idea to Brian Wilson with the hope that the Beach Boys could cover it. Brian worked on the track and when Al heard him play the next day he was blown away.

The funny thing was Brian got all the members of the band to sing the song to see who it suited best and it was Brian Wilson (himself) and Mike Love. The song was about a sloop boat called John B whose crew regularly had too much to drink every time they reached a port. The song was a hit for The Beach Boys in 1966 and it reached the top ten in all charts it was released in, except for Australia where it reached 17.

'Kokomo' was a hit for The Beach Boys in 1988 and topped the charts in the UK, Japan and Australia. It was nominated for best song for the movie 'Cocktail'. The film 'Cocktail' is a romantic drama starring Tom Cruise.

'Help Me Rhonda' was released in 1965. It was written by band members Mike Love and Brian Wilson and was the first of their hits to have vocals from Al Jardine. When they were recording the song in the studio they were interrupted by a drunk Murray Wilson (father of Mike, Brian and Carl Wilson).

There was an altercation between Brian Wilson and his father which was recorded. Apparently it has been heard by fans of the group.

The little deuce coupe was a car and the model was a Ford Model B, a classic car nowadays. The car is a two seater and you can see the engine at the front because there is no bonnet over it.

Brian Wilson, Mike Love and Al Jardine are still involved in the music industry; however the other two band members have sadly passed away. Dennis Wilson died in 1983; he drowned after diving in water while intoxicated. Carl Wilson died of lung cancer in 1988.
