Jerry Reed Hubbard came into the world on March 20, 1937. His parents separated when he was young and Jerry spent much of his youth in foster homes. He was attracted to the guitar at an early age and was writing songs and performing by the time he was in his teens. He recorded his first single at age 18 titled "If the Good Lord's Willing and the Creek Don't Rise".

Vincent Eugene Craddock, better known as Gene Vincent, followed up his hit song "Be-Bop-A-Lula" with Jerry Reed's "Crazy Legs". Jerry Reed was recording for Capitol Records and was unable to chart a hit despite releasing both Country and Rock-A-Billy singles. He switched to National Recording Corporation and in addition to recording singles he was a session player on guitar backing such artists as Ray Stevens and Joe South.
In 1960 Brenda Lee recorded a version of Reed's "That's All You Got to Do".
"Summertime Blues" and "Twenty Flight Rock" were fifties hits by Eddie Cochran. Carl Perkins recorded "Blue Suede Shoes" in 1955. Jerry Lee Lewis released a version of "Crazy Arms" in 1956.

"A Woman Always Knows" was a 1971 David Houston single. Sonny James charted a Country hit with "Empty Arms" and "The Final Hour" was a 1971 single by Hank Smith.

Reed passed away ten years after the release of the album at age 71.
Prairie Oyster was from Toronto and released the "What Is This Country?" LP. Rebel Meets Rebel was a 2006 super group that featured David Allan Coe, Vinnie Paul, Rex Brown and Dimebag Darrell. Waylon Jennings, Johnny Cash, Kris Kristofferson and Willie Nelson were performing as The Highwaymen between 1985 and 1995.
