Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Imogen Heap's first album has a great song with the lyrics "He's standing there, in disgrace of me. Over there, stands my ___ ___". Can you fill in the lyrics?

Answer: Angry angel

The sixth song on Imogen Heap's debut album is called "Angry Angel." The full lyrics are "Over there stands my angry angel and he's shaking his head, in disgrace with me. Over there stands my angry angel and he's frowning like hell, I'm not feeling guilty." The beginning of the song is chaotic and exciting.

The album, called "I Megaphone," was released in the US in 1998. The title is an anagram of her name.
2. From which song do the lyrics "You know I'm no stranger in your dreams" come?

Answer: Come Here Boy

Imogen Heap repeatedly reminds her love in the song "Come Here Boy" of this fact. Along with those lyrics, she also mentions "I know that my face is only too familiar to your sleep". The song starts out slowly and softly and then escalates at the climax. This is a song from the album "I Megaphone", which was also produced by Guy Sigsworth, with whom Imogen later formed a band.
3. Imogen teamed up with Guy Sigsworth to create the band Frou Frou. Which song of theirs was featured in the movie "Garden State"?

Answer: Let Go

"Garden State" was a movie written by Zach Braff and was released worldwide in 2004. Near the end it features Frou Frou's "Let Go," a masterpiece. The soundtrack for "Garden State" features many excellent songs. Although Frou Frou only released one full album, the duo remains friendly.
4. For the band Frou Frou, Guy Sigsworth asked Imogen to come up with some lyrics. But there was one condition: they must contain a specific word. What was the word?

Answer: Love

The word Guy Sigsworth asked to be included was "love". Imogen Heap responded with the lyric "lung of love, leaves me breathless". Those very same lyrics appear in the song "Flicks" off of Frou Frou's album "Details".
5. Imogen Heap's album "Speak For Yourself" features an incredible song with these lyrics in the climax: "There's no way out, we are surrounded. Give in, give in, relish every minute of it!" What song is this from?

Answer: The Walk

Throughout the song "The Walk," Imogen talks about resisting someone ("you and I were never meant to be... can we just be friends... I don't want to feel like this") but in the climax, she sings that she's giving in and planning to relish it all. "The Walk" is the eighth song from "Speak For Yourself." The album came out in the US in 2005.

A year later, Imogen Heap received two Grammy nominations, including "Best New Artist".
6. Imogen is one creative artist. In which of these songs does she thank an old carpet factory for giving her a sound she loved?

Answer: Closing In

Many artists use their album pamphlets to thank various people or to let fans know the instruments used in certain songs. In this case, Imogen's thanks is unique. This is a quote directly from the pamphlet in her "Speak for Yourself" album: (thank you) "to the carpet factory across the courtyard who left out their old carpet tube castaways for me so I could bang on them with CD cases for that sound in 'Closing In' I just had to have."
7. Imogen Heap's next album had a song that was both funny and interesting. In which song is she poking fun at herself?

Answer: Bad Body Double

"Bad Body Double" is the ninth track from "Ellipse." In it, Imogen points out things she really can't stand about herself and puts them off as her "bad body double." She says "We look very similar except she's got some grays and a little extra weight on the sides." It's a mostly comedic song.
8. In which song can you find the lyrics "This is where I was going to sing your name over and over again but I chickened out in the final minute"?

Answer: Swoon

'Swoon" is the fifth song from Imogen's third album. It's a song about a relationship perhaps just beginning. She expresses her excitement over setting up a date and seeing her phone light up because someone special is contacting her. The climax contains the lyrics in question and they end with "'cause I thought you probably wouldn't like it." Her third album, "Ellipse," was released in the US in 2009.
9. Which song is about the tsunami that hit Japan in 2011?

Answer: Lifeline

In the beginning of "Lifeline," you can hear a match being lit. There are a number of sounds that can be heard in this unique song, including a cat and a bicycle wheel in addition to the catchy music. In the song, she sings about gasping for air and reminders to keep breathing.

She also sings "I feel like I've just got the hang of this living thing." This song is from the album "Sparks," which was released nationally 2014.
10. Imogen Heap challenged her fans to provide an answer to the question "What is the song that still needs to be written?" So, which of the following songs is the title to Imogen's song that "still needs to be written"?

Answer: The Listening Chair

In 2012, Imogen Heap presented the question and provided a device for people to answer. It was literally a "listening chair," as it had a microphone and a camera. She then made it a song, of course titled "The Listening Chair," where time passes as she describes different things in her life. Like her favorite things (ping pong, the color blue) or the not-so-great things that have happened ("I caught you kissing her" or being at the hospital).
