Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. "Pink isn't well."

Answer: In the Flesh

The complete line from "In the Flesh" goes: "Pink isn't well, he stayed back at the hotel and they sent us along as a surrogate band." In the movie, the scene for this song is portrayed as a fascist rally.
2. "She won't let you fly but she might let you sing."

Answer: Mother

This song is very interesting as Pink relives memories of both himself and his mother. This song also suggests the underlying effect that Pink's mother had on him-- in a very negative way.
3. "Night after night, we pretend it's alright."

Answer: One of My Turns

The complete line from "One of My Turns" is as follows: "Night after night, we pretend it's alright. But I have grown older and you have grown colder, and nothing is very much fun anymore." This part of the song is before Pink snaps and tears the room apart.
4. "I've got a strong urge to fly, but I've got nowhere to fly to."

Answer: Nobody Home

This line from "Nobody Home" sort of relates back to Pink's mother telling him that she won't let him fly, but she might let him sing.
5. "Does anybody else in here feel the way I do?"

Answer: Vera

This line from "Vera" goes: "Vera, Vera, what has become of you? Does anybody else in here feel the way I do?" This song, although only about 1 minute and 30 seconds long, is considered to be one of the best songs on this album-- by many Pink Floyd fans.
6. "No matter how he tried, he could not break free."

Answer: Hey You

This line from "Hey You" goes: "The wall was too high, as you can see. No matter how he tried, he could not break free. And the worms ate into his brain." There are references of "the wall" in almost every song on this album. It's a very powerful weapon against Pink.
7. "The flames are all long gone, but the pain lingers on."

Answer: Goodbye Blue Sky

Another powerful line from the song "Goodbye Blue Sky" is: "Did you ever wonder why we had to run for shelter when the promise of a brave new world unfurled beneath the clear blue sky?"
8. "Have I been guilty all this time?"

Answer: Stop

This line from "Stop" goes: "I'm waiting in this cell because I have to know, have I been guilty all this time?" In the song "The Trial" we learn exactly what Pink is guilty of-- including showing feelings of an almost human nature, and making his wife and mother suffer.
9. "Don't think I need anything at all."

Answer: Another Brick in the Wall - Part III

This line from "Another Brick in the Wall - Part III" goes: "I don't need no arms around me, and I don't need no drugs to calm me. I have seen the writing on the wall, don't think I need anything at all."
10. "They're gonna send you back to mother in a cardboard box."

Answer: Run Like Hell

This part of "Run Like Hell" explains that if Pink is taking his girlfriend out, he'd better be out of sight because if they catch him in the back seat-- he's in trouble. Pink's mother is a very prominent figure for this album, and there are many references to her.
11. "Well, I can ease your pain."

Answer: Comfortably Numb

This line from "Comfortably Numb" goes: "Come on now, I hear you're feeling down. Well, I can ease your pain, and get you on your feet again. Relax, I'll need some information first, just the basic facts. Can you show me where it hurts?" This song is often highly acclaimed as the best and most powerful song on the album.
12. "Exposing every weakness however carefully hidden by the kids."

Answer: The Happiest Days of Our Lives

Another line from "The Happiest Days of Our Lives" goes: "When we grew up and went to school there were certain teachers who would hurt the children any way they could." People often mistake these lyrics for one of the "Another Brick in the Wall" songs, although it does directly link and run on into the beginning of "Another Brick in the Wall - Part II".
13. "How could you go, when you know how I need you?"

Answer: Don't Leave Me Now

This line from "Don't Leave Me Now" goes: "How could you go, when you know how I need you -- to beat to a pulp on a Saturday night, oh babe. Don't leave me now." You almost think Pink's pleads to his wife are sad and pitiful until he finishes that line.
14. "I didn't mean to let them take away my soul."

Answer: The Show Must Go On

This line from "The Show Must Go On" goes: "There must be some mistake, I didn't mean to let them take away my soul. Am I too old? Is it too late?" Notice where Pink's priorities are-- he's lost his soul, but the show must go on.
15. "Can you show me where it hurts?"

Answer: Comfortably Numb

This is another line from one of the most highly acclaimed songs on the album. This song has a lot of symbolism and references that are sometimes hard to catch if you do not know every other song on the album as well. Every song completely links to every other song on the album to create a very in-depth tragedy.
16. "There must have been a door there in the wall."

Answer: The Trial

The song, "The Trial", marks the final battle for our dear Pink, and his struggle with his life, his sanity, and everyone in it. This song truly explains the wall itself -- including its rise and fall. Nearly every song on this album relates to the actual wall in some way.
17. "How shall I complete the wall?"

Answer: Empty Spaces

This song, "Empty Spaces", goes: "What shall we use to fill the empty spaces where we used to talk? How shall I fill the final places? How shall I complete the wall?" This song explains that Pink himself built and completed the wall himself.
18. "In perfect isolation, here behind my wall."

Answer: Waiting for the Worms

This song, "Waiting for the Worms", not only refers to Pink's wall, but also goes back to the Nazi rally we heard/saw in the song "In the Flesh". One of the things Pink was "waiting" for in "Waiting for the Worms" was to maul the world.
19. "You slip out of your depth and out of your mind."

Answer: The Thin Ice

This line from "The Thin Ice" goes: "Don't be surprised when a crack in the ice appears under your feet. You slip out of your depth and out of your mind, with your fear flowing out behind you as you claw the thin ice." This song is yet another powerful song on this album, referring to what happens when you fall.
20. "Tear down the wall!"

Answer: The Trial

This line from "The Trial" goes: Judge speaking- "In all my years of judging, I have never heard before of someone more deserving of the full penalty of law. The way you made them suffer, your exquisite wife and mother, fills me with the urge to defacate. Since, my friend you have revealed your deepest fear, I sentence you to be exposed before your peers... Tear down the wall!" This song marks the tragic fate of our beloved Pink.
