Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. "Angel Of The Morning": "There'll be no strings to bind your ____"

Answer: hands

Merilee Rush and the Turnabouts had a #7 hit in '68. Juice Newton took it to #4 in 1981. Chip Taylor wrote "Wild Thing" as well as "Angel Of The Morning". He is also Angelina Jolie's uncle.
2. "Born To Be Wild": "Fire all of your guns at once and explode into _____"

Answer: space

Mars Bonfire (born Dennis McCrohan) wrote this #2 hard rock classic for Steppenwolf. Mars was in Sparrow with John Kay before the two joined forces, with others, to form Steppenwolf.
3. "Chain Of Fools": "Every chain has got a weak link I might be weak child, but I'll give you _____"

Answer: strength

Aretha Franklin just missed the top of the charts with this soulful song of a relationship gone bad. Joe South plays the now classic guitar intro on this song.
4. "Green Tambourine": "Drop a _____ before I walk away Any song you want I'll gladly play"

Answer: dime

The Lemon Pipers were able to go all the way to the top of the charts with this slice of psychedelic bubblegum. They were not enthused about recording "Green Tambourine", but it beat being dropped from their record label.
5. "Jumpin' Jack Flash": "I was born in a crossfire hurricane And I _____ at my ma in the drivin' rain"

Answer: howled

Why this near perfect song stalled out at #3 I'll never know. The Stones went back to a standard rock and roll sound, after dabbling in psychedelia, with this one. Even though the words are hard to understand, this is one of my favorite Rolling Stones' songs.
6. "Just Dropped In (To See What Condition My Condition Was In)": I got up so tight I couldn't unwind I saw so much I broke my _____"

Answer: mind

Before Kenny Rogers had a successful country music career he recorded this #5 song with the First Edition. Mickey Newbury wrote this song, he also wrote "An American Trilogy" which Elvis recorded later on.
7. "Time Has Come Today": "The room has changed today I have no place to stay I'm thinking about the _____"

Answer: subway

The Chambers Brothers #11 song took over two years to be a fully realized song. Written in 1966 it was initially rejected. The full length version of this song clocks in at just over 11 minutes.
8. "Mrs. Robinson": "It's a little secret, just the Robinsons' affair Most of all, you've got to hide it from the ____"

Answer: kids

Simon & Garfunkel's "Mrs. Robinson" was written specifically for the film "The Graduate". The other songs they contributed were previously released by the duo. This was done to great effect and opened a Pandora's box for many films that used exisiting material for a soundtrack.
9. "Those Were The Days": "Those were the days my friend We _____ they'd never end We'd sing and dance forever and a day"

Answer: thought

The true origins of this Mary Hopkins song are somewhat muddled. Gene Raskin gave us the lyrics we know today, but it is most likely based on a Russian gypsy song.
10. This one is a little different from the others. "Summer Rain": "All summer long we spent dancin' in the sand And the jukebox kept on playin' _____"

Answer: Sergeant Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band

Johnny Rivers' #14 hit mentions The Beatles' "Sgt. Pepper's", which was released in 1967. The other three songs were also released in 1967. They all charted higher than "Sgt. Pepper's". Why? Because it was never released as single.
