Little Richard, born Richard Penniman, charted 18 hits in the 1950s. This wild man is famous for his live act. His many hits include "She's Got It", Lucille", "Jenny, Jenny", Rip It Up, Slippin' and Slidin", "Long Tall Sally" and "Tutti-Frutti". His songs were the basis of many a budding rock bands' repertoire, in the early sixties.

Paul Anka charted his monster hit "Diana" at age 16 in 1957. He managed to place 55 hits in the top 100. As a songwriter he is responsible for the "Tonight Show Theme", "She's A Lady" for Tom Jones and he wrote the English lyrics for "My Way". Paul composed numerous other film and TV themes and in the late seventies became a regular and popular performer in Las Vegas.

Credence Clearwater Revival never managed a number one single in the USA. They made it to number two on five occasions, with "Proud Mary", "Bad Moon Rising", "Travellin' Band", "Green River" and "Lookin' Out My Back Door".

The Monkees - a manufactured pop group who became a sensation. The group were in fact talented musicians and performers. In the four years from mid 1966 to mid 1970 the boys put 21 singles on the charts, topping the charts with "I'm A Believer", "Last Train To Clarksville" and "Daydream Believer".
5. "Stranger In Town"

Del Shannon scored his first and biggest hit in 1961 with "Runaway". Sadly for Del his popularity waned in the USA after his first hit. He was immensely popular in Europe and Asia and extremely popular in Australia and New Zealand. The first song written by the Beatles to make the charts in the USA was Del Shannon's version of "From Me To You".
6. "Sink The Bismarck"

Johnny Horton had a smash hit in 1959 with "The Battle of New Orleans". Only Bobby Darin's "Mack The Knife" stayed longer in the number one slot that year. Johnny charted many songs on the Hot 100 and many more on the Billboard Country chart in a short space of time. Johnny was afraid of flying and preferred to drive to engagements. Ironically, his untimely death in November 1961 was in in a car crash.
7. "Let's Jump The Broomstick"

Answer: "Your Used To Be"

Brenda Lee charted more songs in the USA and the UK during the 1960s, than any other female artist. A total of 48 chart hits on the Hot 100, with two number ones, ("I'm Sorry" and "I Want To Be Wanted") and another eleven tunes made top ten. Her 1966 hit, "Coming On Strong" is featured in the song "Radar Love" by Golden Earring in 1974.
8. "Blue Moon"

Answer: "Ask Me"

Elvis Presley charted over 150 hits on the Billboard Hot 100. His eighteen number ones on the Hot 100 place him equal second with Mariah Carey, behind The Beatles, who are credited with twenty number ones.
9. "Round Every Corner"

Answer: "The Other Man's Grass Is Always Greener"

Petula Clark started performing at age seven in 1939 and was a movie star at the age of twelve. Petula charted singles in France, Italy, Germany and the UK in the 1950s and the early sixties. It was in 1964 with the release of "Downtown" that she became a worldwide star.
10. "Ain't That Just Like a Woman"

Answer: "I Want To Walk You Home"

Fats Domino will always be remembered for finding his thrill on "Blueberry Hill". He charted 70 songs on the Hot 100 between 1955 and 1968.
