The Small Faces had a UK number two in 1968 with "Lazy Sunday". It never charted in the US. Marmalade had a UK number six in 1968 with "Lovin' Things" It never charted in the US. Manfred Mann had a UK number one in 1968 with a Bob Dylan song "Mighty Quinn". It reached number ten on the US chart.

Georgie Fame sang "Ballad Of Bonnie And Clyde". It was his third and last number one on the UK chart. It was his biggest hit on the US chart reaching number seven.

Love Affair had their only UK number one with "Everlasting Love". They had no hits on the US chart. Dave Dee, Dozy, Beaky, Mick and Tich had their only UK number one with "Legend Of Xanadu" in 1968. It never charted in the US but they had a US number 52 with "Zabadak" in 1968. Long John Baldry had a UK number one with "Let The Heartaches Begin" in 1967. It reached number 88 on the US chart in 1968.

Answer: The Beatles

Of course you got "Hey Jude" by The Beatles, who could forget that fade out. (Go to the bottom of the class if you didn't get it). It was their 15th UK number one and their 16th US number one.

The Hollies, one of the UK's most charted groups of the 60's had a UK number seven in 1968, with "Jennifer Eccles" It reached number 40 on the US chart. Amen Corner had a UK number three hit in 1968 with "Bend Me, Shape Me" They never charted any singles on the US chart. Status Quo, are possibly the most prolific UK group in the number of chart hits, from the 1960's to the 2000's. They had a UK number seven in 1968 with "Pictures Of Matchstick Men" It reached number 12 on the US chart. They only had two US chart hits (You don't know what you have missed) and they opened the UK Live Aid concert in 1985.

Answer: The Union Gap featuring Gary Puckett

"Young Girl" was the song, the singer was The Union Gap featuring Gary Puckett, (some voice this guy had). It was their only UK number one and was re-released in 1974 and reached number six. It reached number two on the US chart in 1968 and they never had a US number one.

The Lemon Pipers had a UK number seven in 1968 with "Green Tambourine". It was their only US number one. The 5th Dimension had a US number three in 1968 with "Stoned Soul Picnic". It never charted in the UK. Fleetwood Mac had a UK number 31 in 1968 with "Need Your Love So Bad". It never charted in the US.

Answer: The Crazy World Of Arthur Brown

The Crazy World Of Arthur Brown sang "Fire". It was Arthur Brown's one and only UK chart hit. It reached number two on the US chart, being his only US hit also.

The Move had a UK number three in 1968 with "Fire Brigade". It never charted in the US. Actor Richard Harris had a UK number four in 1968 with "MacArthur Park". It just missed the top spot on the US chart at number two. The Dave Clark Five had a UK number seven with "Red Balloon". It never charted in the US.

Answer: Joe Cocker

Joe Cocker had some help from The Beatles with this Lennon/McCartney song "With A Little Help From My Friends" It was Joe's only UK number one and reached number 68 on the US chart.

The Beatles original version was on their 1967 album "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" and was never released as a single in the 60's. Joe Brown (a friend of George Harrison) had a UK number 32 hit in 1967 with his version of the song but never had a chart hit in the US. Young Idea had a UK number ten hit in 1967 with their version of the song and they never had a US hit either.

Answer: The Beach Boys

"Do It Again" was by The Beach Boys, (yes, 12 hey now's, I counted them). It reached number one on the UK chart in 1968 and was their second and last UK number one. It reached number 20 on the US chart.

The Beatles had two UK number one's in 1968 with their only two singles that year. The Rascals had a US number one in 1968 with "People Got To Be Free". It never charted in the UK. Otis Redding had a UK number three hit in 1968 with "(Sittin' On) The Dock Of The Bay", his only UK top ten hit. It reached number one on the US chart in 1968, his only US number one.

The Equals sang "Baby Come Back" (Eddie Grant was lead singer) in 1968. It was their only UK number one. It reached number 32 on the US chart.

The Bee Gees had a UK number one in 1968 with "I've Gotta Get A Message To You" It reached number eight on the US chart. The Moody Blues had a UK number 42 in 1968 with "Ride My See-Saw". It reached number 61 on the US chart.

The Scaffold performed "Lily The Pink" (comedy records were still alive and kicking in 1968). Paul McCartney's brother Mike McGear was a member of the three man Liverpool comedy group The Scaffold. They had three UK top ten hits between 1967 and 1974. They had one US chart hit in 1969 with "Thank U Very Much" at number 69, a UK number four in 1967.

Another comedy group The Barron Knights had five UK top ten hits between 1964 and 1983. They had a UK number 35 in 1968 with "An Olympic Record". They had one US chart hit in 1979 with "The Topical Song". The Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band, yet another British comedy group had one UK hit single in 1968 with "I'm The Urban Spaceman" at number five. They had no hits on the US chart. The Kinks also made a number of comic observations on British life in many of their hits such as "Dedicated Follower Of Fashion", "Sunny Afternoon" and "Plastic Man". They had a UK number 12 hit with "Days" in 1968. It never charted in the US.
