Answer: Lee Marvin

Believe it or not, actor Lee Marvin had a number one hit for three weeks on the UK chart with "Wandrin' Star" in 1970. It failed to chart in the US. The song is from the movie "Paint Your Wagon" a musical/comedy/western, starring Lee Marvin and Clint Eastwood.

Clint Eastwood sang the B-side of "Wandrin' Star" "I Talk To The Trees" which reached number 18 on the UK chart. It failed to chart in the US. It made both Lee Marvin and Clint Eastwood one hit wonders in the UK. Robert Mitchum sang "Young Billy Young" over the titles and starred in the movie of the same name in 1969. England won the World Cup in 1966. Brazil won the World Cup in 1958, 1962, 1970, 1994 and 2002. Germany won the World Cup in 1954, 1974 and 1990. Italy won the World Cup in 1934, 1938, 1982 and 2006.

It was released as 7" maxi-single at 33 1/3 with "In The Summertime" and "Mighty Man" on the A-side and "Dust Pneumonia Blues" written by Woodie Guthrie on the B-side. 7. Elvis Presley had his first UK number one hit in over six years with this song. Will these lyrics help you to get it? "And when you smile the world is brighter You touch my hand and I'm a king Your kiss to me is worth a fortune"

Answer: The Wonder Of You

Elvis Presley had a number one hit for six weeks on the UK chart with "The Wonder Of You" in 1970. It reached number nine on the US pop chart the same year.

Not only was this song his first UK number one hit in over six years, it was his 16th and last UK number one hit in his lifetime. The song was written by Baker Knight and was a number 25 hit on the US pop chart for Ray Peterson in 1959 and number 70 in 1964. It reached number 23 on the UK chart in 1959. UK singer Ronnie Hilton had a number 22 hit with the song on the UK chart in 1959, it did not chart in the US.
8. This song is a UK cover version of an American group's recording of a song written about a musical event by a person that wasn't there. Will these lyrics help you to find it? "And I dreamed I saw the bombers Riding shotgun in the sky Turning into butterflies Above our nation"

9. Who had their only UK number one hit with "Voodoo Chile"?

Answer: Jimi Hendrix Experience

The Jimi Hendrix Experience had a number one hit for one week on the UK chart with "Voodoo Chile" in 1970. It did not chart in the US.

It was released posthumously as a tribute to Jimi Hendrix after his death in London UK on 18 Sept 1970. This added to the fact that this single included two previous hits "Hey Joe" and "All Along The Watchtower" may have helped the record reach number one on the UK chart.
10. A Smiley Lewis R&B hit from 1955 gave this singer the last UK number one hit of 1970. Can you get the title from the lyrics of this cover version? "I begged you not to go but you said goodbye Now you're telling me all your lies"

Answer: I Hear You Knocking

Dave Edmunds had a number one hit for six weeks on the UK chart with "I Hear You Knocking" in 1970. It reached number four on the US pop chart in 1971.

After being in different groups since the '50s and having no commercial success, Edmunds and others from the group Human Beans formed Love Sculpture. They had a number five instrumental hit on the UK chart with "Saber Dance" in 1968. It did not chart in the US. "I Hear You Knocking" and the other alternative titles were all originally recorded by Smiley Lewis. He was overshadowed by the similar but more commercial style of Fats Domino who had hits with "Blue Monday and "I Hear You Knocking". Elvis Presley had a hit with "One Night".
