Philadelphia group Danny & The Juniors had a number one hit for seven weeks with "At The Hop" on the US pop chart in 1958. It reached number three on the UK chart the same year. It re-entered the UK chart in 1976 and reached number 39. They never made the US or UK top ten again.

After Danny White left the group in 1960 he wrote the songs "You Don't Own Me" for Lesley Gore and "1-2-3" and "Like A Baby" for Len Barry amongst others. Lead singer Danny Rapp was found dead in a hotel in Arizona in 1983, possibly from suicide age 41. They were inducted into the Vocal Group Hall of Fame in 2003.

He co-wrote "Come on-a My House" which Rosemary Clooney recorded and he acted in Hitchcock's "Rear Window". He did all the voices on "The Chipmunk Song" and named the chipmunks Alvin, Simon and Theodore after executives of his record company. Seville won two Grammy awards for this song in 1959. One for Best Comedy Performance and the other for Best Recording For Children.
