Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. "Wonderful, wonderful Jesus is to me/ Counselor, Prince of peace. Mighty God is He./ Saving me, keeping me from all sin and shame/ ______________________________" Please choose the next line:

Answer: Wonderful is my Redeemer - praise His Name!

Although many churches sing this praise song, it is merely the chorus of a hymn. "Wonderful, wonderful, Jesus is to me" was written by Haldor Lillenas in 1957. He was living in Pasadena, California at that time. One of the many people Lillenas took in during his stay there was a 12-year old Sirhan Sirhan, and his family.
2. "Jesus, Jesus, Jesus: there's just something about that Name/ Master, Savior, Jesus: like the fragrance after the rain/ Jesus, Jesus, Jesus: _______________" What is the next part of the line?

Answer: Let all heaven and earth proclaim

"Something About that Name" was written by William and Gloria Gaither, in 1970. Bill Gaither began singing and writing hymns in the late 1950s, and gained fame with the Gaither Trio and the Gaither Vocal Band. These groups - as well as hundreds of other Christian performers - are seen at "Gaither Homecomings", which are televised and recorded concerts of Christian music.
3. "Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised/ In the city of our God; in the mountain of His holiness/ Beautiful for situation; the joy of all the earth/ Is Mount Zion, on the side of the north: _________________" Fill in the blank.

Answer: The city of the great King

"Great is the Lord to Thy River" is based on Psalm 48:1. It was written by Robert Ewing, of Waco, Texas. Some versions of the song use the words "beautiful in elevation" for the third verse.
4. "Cause me to come to Thy river, Oh Lord/ Cause me to come to Thy river, Oh Lord/ Cause me to come to Thy river, Oh Lord/ What is the last line of this verse?

Answer: Cause me to come, cause me to drink, cause me to live

"Cause Me to Come" was written by Edward R. Miller in 1974. The Bible speaks of a river in Psalm 46:4, when it says, "There is a river whose streams gladden the city of God, The holy place of the tabernacles of the Most High."
5. "I was sinking deep in sin; far from the peaceful shore/ Very deeply stained within; sinking to rise no more/ But the Master of the sea heard my despairing cry/ From the waters lifted me; now safe am I! What are the next words?

Answer: Love lifted me!

"Love Lifted Me" was written by James Rowe and Howard Smith. Smith wrote the lyrics on the piano, even though his arthritis was so severe he could only play for a few minutes at a time. The song is partially based on the account of Matthew 14:29, where Peter tried to walk on water but begins to sink.
6. The B-I-B-L-E, yes, that's the book for me!/ _______________________, the B-I-B-L-E!" Please choose the words that come next:

Answer: I stand alone on the Word of God

The B-I-B-L-E Song" has no listed author or source. It is frequently used by young children in Bible classes. Other verses were added, spelling out "FAITH and BLOOD" but these are not as widely known.
7. The devil is a sly old fox/ If I could catch him I'd put him in a box/ Lock the door, and throw away the key/ Which words come next?

Answer: For all the tricks he played on me

The author of "The Devil is a Sly Old Fox" is unknown. Those of us who are believers will be challenged by Satan on a regular basis - and he is as tricky as a "sly old fox." 1 Peter 5:8 says "Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour." (NIV)
8. I love You, Lord - and I lift my voice/ To worship You; oh, my soul rejoice/ Take joy, my King, in what You hear/ ____________________________" Can you select the next words?

Answer: Let it be a sweet, sweet sound in your ear

"I Love You, Lord" was written by Laurie Klein in 1978. At the time she wrote this song, she and her husband were broke and living in a trailer. Although this experience brought her to brokenness, she offered to sing for God if He would send her the words to a song. The words He sent became this song.
9. "I will bless the Lord at all times/ His praise shall continually be in my mouth/ My soul shall make her boast in Thee, Lord/ ___________________________" Which words are next in the song?

Answer: The humble shall hear thereof, and be proud

This song comes directly from the first few lines of Psalm 34, and is my favorite praise song. I love the way it emphasizes the need for our attitude to always be one of gratitude. I also love the reminder that when "I sought the Lord...He heard me, and delivered me from all my fears."
10. "Jesus is the sweetest Name I know/ And He's just the same, as His lovely Name/ ___________________/ For Jesus is the sweetest Name I know." Can you select the words I left out?

Answer: That's the reason why I love Him so.

"Jesus is the Sweetest Name I Know" was written by Lela Long. She is said to have written this shortly after her conversion. Philippians 2:9 says,"Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name."
