Einstein received no Nobel Prize for his work on relativity. However, his paper on the photoelectric effect was of monumental importance and drove the development of quantum theory. It is ironic that Einstein's later career was spent attempting to find a "unified field theory" in order to eliminate the aspects of the quantum revelation that Einstein felt distasteful, particularly Heisenberg's uncertainty principle.
