Amy has also been quite a political activist. Working with Abbie Hoffman (of the Chicago Seven, accusing of disrupting the Democratic National Convention in Chicago in 1968) Amy protested the recruiting by the CIA on the campus of the University of Massachusetts in 1987. Her next film role really put a spotlight on Amy. As Giselle in "Enchanted"(2007), Amy played the lead in a movie described as a "fantasy-comedy-musical film".

Answer: Amy Fisher

Amy Fisher was only 16 years old when she began an affair with Joey Buttafuoco on Long Island, New York. Dubbed "The Long Island Lolita", Amy sought out Joey's wife, Mary Jo, and shot her in hopes that she (Amy) and Joey could be together. Mary Jo Buffafuco survived the attack.

Joey Buttafuoco was convicted of statutory rape as his affair with Amy took place up until she was 17 years old. Amy was found guilty and eventually sentenced to 3-10 years in prison. She was released in 1999.

Interestingly, all three major television networks produced films about Amy Fisher. NBC started with "Amy Fisher: My Story" (1992) followed by ABC's "The Amy Fisher Story"(1993) and finally "Casualties of Love: The Long Island Lolita Story"(1993).

Amy Robsart Dudley (1532-1560) was the first wife of Lord Robert Dudley. Lord Robert also had the attention of Queen Elizabeth I. Answer: Amy Poehler

Amy Poehler has entertained us as a comedic actor who makes us laugh until we almost cry. She has appeared on "Saturday Night Live" from 2001-2008. I still laugh right out loud when I think of her "interview" of Sarah Palin (played by Tina Fey) in 2008.

Amy was also memorable in "Baby Mama"(2008) where she played a surrogate mother for Tina Fey. In 2009, Ms. Poehler landed the star role in "Parks and Recreation". where she plays Leslie Knope, the deputy director of the recreation department in fictional Pawnee, Indiana.

Amy Poehler is married to Will Arnett, also of "Saturday Night Live" fame.
9. Our next "Amy" used to be married to director and producer, Steven Spielberg. Which one?

Answer: Amy Irving

Although Amy Irving acted in several movies and guest starred on many television shows, she is probably best remembered as the former wife of Steven Spielberg. Together, she and Steven had one son. Their marriage lasted three years and in the divorce Amy was awarded a huge financial settlement.

Ms. Irving starred in the movie "Carrie"(1976) in the part of Sue Snell who was one of the only people in the movie who tried to befriend the troubled Carrie (Sissy Spacek). In 1988, she starred as Isabelle Grossman in "Crossing Delancy". She was nominated for a Best Supporting Actress Oscar. The film tells the story of Isabelle being "matched up" with Sam Posner (Peter Riegert). At first, there is no interest on her part, but love finally wins out by the end of the movie.
10. Back into history again, which "Amy" set many records for flying an airplane in the 1930s?

Answer: Amy Johnson

Well, you know that I had to throw in one or two or three obscure questions!

Amy Johnson (1903-1941) was the first female airplane pilot in Britain. Ms. Johnson was the first female to fly from Britain to Australia. She also accomplished many long distance records in her career.

In World War II, Ms. Johnson served in the Air Transport Auxiliary. In 1941, her plane went missing due to poor weather and she crashed and died at the age of 41. Her exact mission for this flight is still a mystery and is a highly guarded secret by the British government.

Answer: Amy Sedaris

Amy Sedaris was born in 1961 in New York. She is an actress, a comedian and an author, often co-writing material with her older brother, David. One of her most famous roles has been the character Jerri Blank in Comedy Center's "Strangers with Candy" (1999-2000). In this dark comedy, Amy's character is an ex-prostitute and an ex-junkie who returns to high school at the age of 41.
12. Next on our hit parade of "Amys", we have a singer and songwriter whose achievements in these two areas were only matched by the material she unintentionally provided for the tabloid press. Who was she?

Answer: Amy Winehouse

Amy Winehouse, born September 14, 1983 (same birthdate as my son!) in London, England was a famous singer and songwriter. Ms. Winehouse, unfortunately, spent much of her time making headlines in the tabloids. She was plagued by numerous personal problems, including eating disorders, depression, suicidal tendencies, alcohol and drug addictions and many legal problems. "Newsweek" magazine (March, 2007) said of her, "[Amy Winehouse] is a perfect storm of sex kitten, raw talent and poor impulse control".

Amy's debut album was "Frank" released in 2003. She received over 20 musical awards, some of which are listed below:

-2007: BRIT Awards (British Phonographic Industry) - Best Female Solo Artist

-2008: Grammy Awards - Record of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Female Pop Vocal Performance, Best New Artist

-2009: Echo Music Awards - Best International Female Artist (Rock/Pop) Album of the Year

Unfortunately, Amy Winehouse passed away in July, 2011.
13. Would you believe it? Not only was this "Amy" a well known poet in her day, but she was also born in the same town as John F. Kennedy - Brookline, Massachusetts. Which one?

Answer: Amy Lowell

Amy Lowell (1874-1925) is remembered as one of America's best Imagist poets. Largely responsible for the Imagist movement in the United States, Amy's poetry contained lush imagery without the use of too many flowery words.

Amy was at the center of many controversies in her lifetime. In 1909, she met the love of her life, Ada Russell and they remained together until Amy's death in 1925. This "alternative lifestyle" did not go over well in the beginning of the 20th century. Amy's poems, at first, went to great lengths to hide the fact that she was a lesbian, but, as time passed, her true feelings in her poems were less concealed.

Ms. Lowell was an advocate of poetry and poets. She turned her parents' home (after their deaths) into a center for poetry. Throughout her life, she sponsored several young poets.
14. There are "Amys" everywhere! Another "Amy" is a singer and songwriter. In 2006, "Blender" magazine listed this lady as one of the "hottest women in rock" along with Courtney Love, Liz Phair and Joan Jett. Who is she?

Answer: Amy Lee Hartzler

Amy was born Amy Lynn Lee in 1981. Amy married Josh Hartzler in 2007. Trained as a classic pianist, she is also a songwriter and singer. Although she has done some work as a solo artist, she is one of the founders of the group "Evanescence", an alternative metal band, where she has been the lead vocalist for years.

Her albums include "Fallen"(2003) and "The Open Door"(2006). Amy has been well-known for her taste in Victorian-styled clothing (much of which she designed herself) and her use of Gothic makeup.
15. Our last "Amy" appeared in the movies "Gone Baby Gone"(2007) and "Changeling"(2008). Which "Amy"?

Answer: Amy Ryan

Born in 1969 in Queens, New York, Amy Ryan has displayed her talents in theatre, television and movies.

Beginning in theatre, Ms. Ryan was nominated for Tony Awards for her performances in "Uncle Vanya"(2000) as Sonya Alexandrovna and for portraying Stella Kowalski in "A Streetcar Named Desire"(2005).

Moving on to television, she did a short stint on the soap opera "As the World Turns". She did guest appearances in several television shows. One of my favorites was her turn as the young "Sophie Berger" (Marion Ross played the older version) in "Brooklyn Bridge"(1991).

In "Gone, Baby, Gone"(2007), she played the role of Helen McCready and Carol Dexter in "Changeling"(2008).
