The founder of Confucianism, Confucius (551 BCE-479 BCE), was also a teacher and political figure. His way of thinking later became the official imperial philosophy of China. He was very influential in several government dynasties. Confucius based many of his beliefs on the concept of self-discipline.

Answer: The Art of War

"The Art of War" contains 13 chapters about different aspects of warfare. Sun Tzu (544 BC-496 BC) described war as a "necessary evil that must be avoided whenever possible". The book has been extremely influential with military and political leaders all over the world. The name Sun Tzu literally means "Master Sun".

Not everything is pretty though, as his rule took the lives of millions of people, who were either executed or died during the Great Leap Forward, which caused widespread famine and starvation.

Despite this, he is widely revered in the People's Republic of China.

An acclaimed writer in the literary world, Ding Ling (1904-1986) was one of the most popular authors of the 20th century. The Soviet Union awarded her the Stalin second prize for Literature in 1951. Although she was a supporter of the Communist cause, she was jailed for political reasons, as Mao Zedong disliked her and her way of thinking.
