Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Which of these Jacks was born in 1876 in California, originally with the last name of Chaney, and published his first short story at the age of 21?

Answer: Jack London

Jack London lived from 1876 until 1916 and is famous for his novels of the Klondike gold rush, "Call of the Wild" and "White Fang", among other writings. Born John Griffith Chaney, his biological father (astrologist William Chaney) refused to acknowledge that Jack was his son. That disclamation prompted Jack to go to the Klondike.

Jack Daniel (founder of Jack Daniel's Tennessee Whiskey distillery) lived from 1846 to 1911. His full name was Jasper Newton "Jack" Daniel.

Jack Kevorkian lived from 1928 until 2011, and was famous for his support of euthanasia. In 1999, Kevorkian served eight years of a prison sentence for second-degree murder before being released on parole.

Jack Palance was an American actor who lived from 1919 to 2006. He was well-known for his roles in such movies as "Sudden Fear", "Shane", and "City Slickers", the latter winning him an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor.
2. There are a few very well-known Justins out there these days. In Canada, we have a Justin who is a politician, and also the son of a former Prime Minister who in 2015 became Prime Minister himself. Which of these Justins is he?

Answer: Justin Trudeau

Justin Pierre James Trudeau was born on Christmas day, 1971 to parents Pierre and Margaret Trudeau. Pierre Trudeau was Prime Minister from 1968 to 1979, and then again from 1980 until 1984. Justin's birth placed him in history as only the second child to be born to a sitting Canadian Prime Minister; the only previous one being the youngest daughter of Canada's first Prime Minister, Sir John A. Macdonald.

While politically active through much of his life, he did not seek a seat in parliament until the 2008 election, where he won the riding of Papineau in Québec (for the Liberal Party) and in 2015 became Prime Minister.
3. The name Julia is the feminine form of the Latin name Julius, but the Julia in this question was born in the United States. Known as a chef, author and television personality, which of these Julias popularized French cuisine in North America?

Julia Child learned her expertise in French cuisine while she and her husband were posted to France as members of the United States Foreign Service. After more than a decade perfecting her skills, she published her bestselling book, "Mastering the Art of French Cooking" in 1961. More books (over 20) followed over the years, as well as her successful television career, most famously seen in her show, "The French Chef" which first aired in 1963.

Julia Child passed away in 2004 at the age of 91, shortly before her 92nd birthday.

6. Which of these Jennifer actors, while famous in her own right, was also known for her relationship with Ben Affleck and their unfortunate portmanteau nickname 'Bennifer'?

Answer: Jennifer Lopez

By the late '90s her successes with "Money Train" (1995) and "Selena" (1997) along with her first album "On the 6" (1999) saw her firmly ensconced in the entertainment limelight.

The relationship between Lopez and Affleck was highly publicized, and the couple cited the invasive media as being one of the reasons for their breakup only 18 months after the relationship began. (It lasted from July 2002 to January 2004).
